    If you " have nothing against Hyrule Warriors itself" at least give it something higher than a 0. Even those who didn't like it gave it a 2. Honestly, it doesn't run that bad on the old 3DS. I read what others were saying and I was afraid it was going to be unplayable but it's not that bad, not even when a ton of things are happening at once.     I am a lifelong fan of Zelda and have bought most games related to the franchise - sometimes I am disappointed, such as with Triforce Heroes, but generally I get a lot of enjoyment not just from the gameplay, but from the lore and the characters within.

    I have not enjoyed Dynasty Warriors. I played one game many years ago - possibly the second one on PS2, I forget - and did not enjoy.    I am a lifelong fan of Zelda and have bought most games related to the franchise - sometimes I am disappointed, such as with Triforce Heroes, but generally I get a lot of enjoyment not just from the gameplay, but from the lore and the characters within.

    I have not enjoyed Dynasty Warriors. I played one game many years ago - possibly the second one on PS2, I forget - and did not enjoy. Repetitive, pointless...

    But Zelda. Her name is on this box, and given the promise that this includes all the DLC from the Wii U version with more to come I chose this over the Wii U version.

    I've played several hours now, and am on the fence. The lore is there, the characters, there's some clever fan service here. But the gameplay seems ever so shallow. Enemies don't even seem to be attacking me, just swarming around like gormless pawns. Only the bosses in certain rooms have swung a sword at me, otherwise I have had zero difficulty in progressing.

    That said, I've had fun so far, in a thoughtless, simple way.

    There are some slight flaws with the game engine. I'm playing on New 3DS, and yet have to turn off the 3D effect. Out of around 40 games, this is only the second (after Pokemon Omega Ruby) that has severe framerate issues for me with 3D turned on, enough that it's a problem. Fortunately (?) the 3D effect isn't that good in this case, so it's no loss to turn it off.

    Controls are simple (you can choose Dynasty or Zelda control style - I chose Zelda) with the added stick controlling the camera and the added shoulder buttons taking over from the D-pad, which makes locking onto (and off) bosses easier.

    All in all I recommend this game. Despite my misgivings about the repetitive gameplay and poor implementation of 3D, I'm having fun with it and intend to play it through at least the once.    … Expand

    On New 3ds? The game is literally the Wii U game only with all the DLC unlocked and even MORE DLC coming out later. If you have a N3ds, don't even bother with the Wii U version and get this as it literally has EVERYTHING the Wii U version has. On O3ds? That is a tough one, but it for sure is still playable on the O3ds.

    You know how people said that this game is horrible on the original 3DS, & would NOT recommend it if you even thought about playing this game? They were exaggerating. It's perfectly fine. now I say FINE, & not PERFECT cuz... it's not perfect. Yes the frame rate drops are visible, but it doesn't affect the gameplay at all. You don't even notice it during regular gameplay. Textures are blurry and character models have had their poly counts lowered. The number of enemies have also been reduced.     The amount of content is impressive and the 3DS version offers a new story arc featuring Linkle. The 3DS version does introduce some gameplay enhancements that make the experience a bit more accessible. You can swap between heroes on the fly and direct those you aren't controlling to a different objective point.

    Owners of the older 3DS may want to approach this one with caution. Play a demo if possible to know if you can tolerate the performance. "New" 3DS owners will find a smoother experience that is worth picking up. The game still offers an incredible power trip as you decimate hordes of enemies but your enjoyment may be subject to the hardware you own. For that reason I wish this game might have been a "New" 3DS exclusive.    … Expand

The game is ridiculously huge with all of the DLC included, and I still never fully completed everything. So when Hyrule Warriors Legends was announced for the 3DS, I was worried that I would yet again not complete it. While it's still much too soon to say ifHyrule Warriors was a game that came out on the WiiU and effectively ate away hundreds of hours for me and I enjoyed a lot of it. The game is ridiculously huge with all of the DLC included, and I still never fully completed everything. So when Hyrule Warriors Legends was announced for the 3DS, I was worried that I would yet again not complete it. While it's still much too soon to say if I'll complete it or not, I can say that I'm easily enjoying this port as much, if not more so than I did the original. Hyrule Warriors Legends takes the colossal game from the WiiU and makes it portable, while also adding new content and promising even more down the road. There are ups, there are downs, but this game stands as one of the best mobile ports I've ever seen.

    The downsides to this game are few and inconsequential for most people, but they still need to be addressed. While some downgrade in visuals was absolute, it's still a bit disheartening to not see the game in the quality of the WiiU version. I don't actively hold it against the game, it still looks rather good for the 3DS, but sometimes I find myself thinking "man, I wish this game looked as good as the WiiU version". Another issue I've come into is bugs. Compared to the zero I encountered playing the WiiU version, I've encountered a whole one on the 3DS version. I know it's small, but it was still something that stood out to me a bit. A personal qualm that I have with this game is the lack of the BGM setting, which allowed you to set the background music for the fight to your preference. I enjoy the music in this game quite a bit, but there are some tracks I like to listen to over others, and I miss having the option to pick and choose. As well, the different variances of the songs are gone, I'm assuming to size constraints. In the WiiU version the music would shift and change depending on if you were in combat, if you were in certain areas on the map, etc. It was a wonderful detail that music enthusiasts like myself loved, and knowing that it's not in this port is disappointing.

    Now that the bad is out of the way, it's time for the good, which there is a lot of. When most games are moved from a home console to a mobile console, there tends to be a lot of cut content, edges trimmed to help it fit on the limited hardware. This game did the exact opposite in so many ways, and it's one of the only times I can think of where I've said "the mobile version is better than the console version". To start, the roster has an additional 5 characters, with more on the way. To be fair, you can transfer all of the new characters over to the WiiU version with a code that comes with the game, but it stands out on this game for having them first. The gameplay has been modified to help lessen the monotony of some of the boss fights, making heavy blows less flashy and faster to help the fight go along. As well, you now have the option to use more than one character in a battle, as you can switch between them via the touch screen. You can also issue commands to the other warriors, allowing you to effectively strategize positioning and movement of your troops. I had moments in my time where this mechanic effectively saved the battle, as I could use two of my warriors to stop enemies from escaping while I ran off to fight another enemy. To boot, this almost completely negates the occasional missions that would limit you to using a certain warrior, because now you can just set a warrior you prefer as the second member of your team and switch to them once the battle starts.

    Another addition to the game that didn't have to be added but it was so who's complaining, is the My Fairy system. You will occasionally come across fairies that you can befriend during a battle, and afterwards you can equip them as a secondary utilization of your magic bar for a giant explosion. As well, you can name, accessorize and strengthen your fairy through clothing and foods that you'll find during fights as well. It's not a game changer, but it's a wonderful and enjoyable addition. A thing that could be either a good or bad thing depending on your opinion is the streamlining of the adventure mode. You can no longer access all of the various maps right out of the gate, rather you have to unlock the later ones after beating certain missions on the first map, and you unlock more as you go on. A huge portion of the hidden characters are stashed away in these maps, as well as many of the secondary weapons and costumes, so chances are once you beat Legend Mode, this is where most of your time will go.

    All in all, Hyrule Warriors is not only a good port of a great WiiU game, it's a great 3DS game on its own, standing up with the more sizable games out for the console such as Xenoblade Chronicles and Monster Hunter. If you're looking for a good mobile game to sink a lot of hours into, or just want a fun beat 'em up for the road, or just really like Legend of Zelda, this game will serve you well.    … Expand

    Honestly when I first played this game I was a little disappointed by the graphics (just like I was when I played Xenoblade Chronicles) but it turns out after playing it for 10 minutes I was so emerged I looked past it. Its really not that bad considering the amount of content and fun factor on a new 3ds. Im extremely grateful for this port because of the nastalgia it brings. I mean I feltHonestly when I first played this game I was a little disappointed by the graphics (just like I was when I played Xenoblade Chronicles) but it turns out after playing it for 10 minutes I was so emerged I looked past it. Its really not that bad considering the amount of content and fun factor on a new 3ds. Im extremely grateful for this port because of the nastalgia it brings. I mean I felt like i revisited Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight princess,and Skyward Sword which is incredible. Also to mention this game also plays like a 3d smash brother game.     This game is so entertaining, I've had a awesome time with it, the only problem is the graphic but still a great game. If you want to have a great time, I highly recommend playing this game.

    Having not played Hyrule Warriors on Wii U i jumped at the chance to get it for 3ds. I own a New 3DS XL so these remarks DO NOT APPLY to performance on older hardware. The game is quite fun and addicting. I like the battles and upgrade system. The look is good, its not the prettiest 3ds game out there but the gameplay does make up for it and the cut scenes look quite good. Linkle is aHaving not played Hyrule Warriors on Wii U i jumped at the chance to get it for 3ds. I own a New 3DS XL so these remarks DO NOT APPLY to performance on older hardware. The game is quite fun and addicting. I like the battles and upgrade system.     If you have the old 3ds or the 2ds you should skip this title. If you have the new 3ds then this is a must have. The game is fun, deep, and engaging. No the graphics are not as good as the Wii U, but why would they be? The game offers all the elements of this style game, and it offers them on the go. Well worth the $40.00 entry fee.

    Runs very well in the New 3DS, runs OK in the old 3DS. I can say this because I own the game and both consoles. If you are a Zelda fan you'll love this game, a lot of content, music is gorgeous and the DLC coming is awesome. Many people giving bad reviews didn't even play the game. Don't let bad reviewers take you away from an opportunity to experience TLOZ like never before.

The mechanics of Dynasty Warriors is present. But what keeps you hooked is the insane effort the developers put into this game, the fan service, the music, the unlockables, the Zelda universe, the little things like sound effects and character voices during battle. Common! New characters, adventure modes, story mode, fairy game, upgrading your character.

    You must be a jaded gamer not to have fun with this game!

    The graphics are downgraded, but it still looks good. The 3D effect is good. I have zero complaints.

    You can see I love this game. If you are an action fan and a Zelda fan--then this game is a MUST!

    First off, it runs great on the O3DS, 100%, completely playable. Yeah, it's not the 30 fps that the N3DS version runs, but it's still great, and gameplay is not hurt. Really, the only times I really notice the framerate is when doing a 180* turn running around the battlefield, and still, it's never game breaking or anything. Even with a few giant bosses and tons of enemies, the game maintains a good 20~24 fps. However, I do miss 3D. And there is some quite obvious enemy pop-in, even when they are right in front of you. But it's really just a minor detail, and not something game-breaking or anything the sort.

    Attacks feel great and powerful, the player animations are great, and combos are easy to do. The controls are good, if not great, and are customizable, so even if you don't like certain button action, you can just change it.

    Graphics are ok, but really pale in comparison when compared to other 3DS games. The good thing is, though, that when actually playing the game, you won't even notice them! So much action! Music is good, but for me at least, it plays a bit too low, even with headphones. But I guess that really depends on your headphones.

    As for the game itself, (and not just the port), the game is amazing! It is basically a hack and slash game. And it is super addicting, with tons of content, many different characters, a nice story, character models, music player, illustrations, tons of missions, and more! You'll definitely sink a lot of hours into this game, I assure you.

    As a Zelda fan, I wanted to try this out, but since I had never played a Dinasty Warriors game, I didn't know what to expect. I tried a store demo once, and it really didn't get to me. But when they announced it for the 3DS, I got excited. A hack and slash for the 3DS! And now that I have played it, I don't regret at all my purchase. It is REALLY good. Amazing game, for such a small console! Get it, even if you have a normal 3DS. You won't regret it!!    … Expand

    If you like the Wii U version then get this game. If you didn't like this game on the Wii U, I would strongly recommend giving it another try on the 3ds version. I'm playing on the New 3ds so there's no issues unless I turn on the 3d mode, but even then the 3d isn't anything special in this game. The down grade on the graphics is no issue to me because the game play is still there and it'sIf you like the Wii U version then get this game. If you didn't like this game on the Wii U, I would strongly recommend giving it another try on the 3ds version.     This game melds musou gameplay with the legend of zelda a lot better than expected. The gameplay is fun, there's a sizeable roster, it features many zelda locations, classic zelda music, the adventure mode is a nice touch, and it's generally just a fun game. I'm playing this on the new 3DS, I hear the the original 3DS performs horribly with this game so be wary.

    Get the same game on the Wii U. It's nothing different except you're looking at a Zelda port from the Wii U to the Nintendo 3DS. Stick with original Hyrule Warriors. Hyrule Warriors Legends isn't successful but it works as a sole title.

    This game should be new 3ds exclusive, it's just unplayable on old 3ds. Combat system is fun and addictive but it's hard to enjoy it when there is bad fps and ugly graphic. Old 3ds 0/10 (unplayable) New 3ds (6/10)

    I have nothing against Hyrule Warriors itself, but the game running on the old 3DS at 10 fps is unacceptable. I still can't believe Nintendo - of all the Ubisoft's and Warner Bros. and Bandai Namco's of the world - did this to their own audience. Such atrocity mustn't be tolerated.

Because at this point you will no longer even see *ANY* new maps or enemies or bosses, ever. It only recycles the same things over and over, with every adventure map that comes out. Somehow these adventure maps get quite a lot of praise It seems. I really couldn't tell you why. If they were free it would've been okay but it seems they're part of the paid DLC and it's really not something worth extra money. It just seems like a way to extort nostalgic Zelda fans.… Expand

The story of the game follows the Hyrulian forces as Cia leads an invasion in Hyrule in order to free Ganondorf. The game then focuses on stopping Cia before jumping to other campaigns that eventually lead to fighting and defeating Ganon. There are some other side campaigns such as Cia's rise to power and Linkle being late for every battle, but showing up to help whoever is there to defend them from further attacks. The story is not bad, but it's not great.

    The gameplay for the most part is good. Each character has a unique style and some even have access to multiple weapons. The problem is that most weapons are locked in Adventure Mode and you have to do some random side quest on a map in order to unlock them. About half the characters are also locked in Adventure Mode like this and with the puzzles in Adventure Mode, it feels tedious to unlock them because you have to repeat maps to get Compass, then repeat maps for the items you need to unlock the reward, then you have to A rank the map in order to collect the reward.

    The worst problem of the game is that the AI on your side is absolutely useless. They are unable to defend a base and will be stopped by almost any officer type enemy. Bases fall in about two minutes and you basically just use them for buffers to buy you time while you try to rush and complete the objectives. The ability to switch between multiple characters and use warp points on some maps help, but they are unavailable in many. You are literally the one man army because all your allies are stopped and can possibly be killed by a single enemy officer.    … Expand

    Ugly graphics, Ugly framerate, No save transfer, cutting every corner to make the game even work on the 3ds. it's just a crapshoot that manages to get nothing right.

    Points for actually making the game work I guess.

    Muy buen juego, considerando que es un port mejorado de Wii u y que ese puede jugar de forma portátil, me parece que es absurdo el contemplar los gráficos debido a la portabilidad de la consola, por otro lado el incluir el concepto de que el juego se basa en una guerra para defender Hyrule, perdiendo el concepto de jugabilidad normal de historia, pero a grandes rasgos un buen juego

BTW, I own a New 3DS so I didn't experience any major framerate problems.

    GAME PLAY: Everyone says it's mostly mindless slashing, and while they're right, there is also lot of strategy to this (I don't blame them, it's easy to forget when you get 1,000 KOs). Each mission involves completing multiple objectives at a time, it seems overwhelming at first but it's never anything you can't do. When you're finished with the story mode, Adventure Mode becomes the reason this game is so addicting. It's a bunch of challenges that reward you with extra characters and new weapons.

    STORY: There are five different "campaigns": The main story, Ganon's story, Cia's story, and two new stories involving Linkle and the Wind Waker.

    The main story is about Link and the rest of the warriors attempting to stop the main villain, Cia. It's not as complex as the stories of the main series games, but it was interesting enough for me to want to know what happened next.

    Ganon's story is an epilogue that starts with him building an army. The final boss was pretty cool. However, I would've liked for them to add more villains from the series like Vaati or Twinrova.

    Cia's story is a prologue that explains how she met Wizzro and Volga. Other then that, I didn't find it that interesting.

    Linkle's story takes place during the main story and involves the titular character believing herself to be the legendary hero. I was most excited for this story, but unfortunately it disappointed me because it didn't go anywhere or explain anything about a certain plot item.

    Lastly is the Wind Waker epilogue taking place after Ganon's story. It's a nice ending that features Wind Waker characters and the final boss was fun to fight.

    As a whole, it's a simple and not very complex story, but wacky enough to have fun with. I often joke around that it feels more like an insane Zelda fan-fiction then a cinematic story from the main series games.

    FINAL THOUGHTS: In the end, I had a lot of fun with this game and I'm continuing to play it almost everyday. I'm currently trying to unlock all the characters and special weapons, so wish me luck!    … Expand

    I haven't really ever played a Dynasty Warriors game before but I do like this game. Combat is fun & fluid, characters all feel different & have their own strengths & faults. My only real complaints are that the 3D mode pretty bad & drops the FPS down to the mid 20s & that the graphics aren't really that great, possibly due to how many enemies are on the screen at once & for a handheldI haven't really ever played a Dynasty Warriors game before but I do like this game.     Let me start with this; if you already own Hyrule Warriors for the WiiU, do not bother with Hyrule Warrior Legends. They are essentially the exact same hack and slash game with the exact same story. I honestly would not have purchased this game for $40 if I had known that it was the exact game. The only person I have to blame was myself.     This game has everything the Wii U version lacked, the use of the Ocarina for teleportation, character in battle changing, additional maps and quests, etc.

    This game is fun and even though the graphics look a little bit cheap, it's an awesome port that I love playing over and over. Time flies by when playing this game considering each mission goes from 2 to 20 minutes completing.     I already bought the "season pass" and I'm so excited to get the DLC from a link to the past, link between worlds, etc. This game plays the way smash bros needs to, each character has unique abilities and attacks, unlike smash bros who's got the same attacks for lots of its characters.
    I give it a 9 because the graphics were too downgraded.

Textures are blurry and character models have had their poly counts lowered. The number of enemies have also been reduced. Performance is poor on the original 3DS as it struggles to maintain a consistent frame rate. The "New" 3DS fares better and is the optimal way to play this game on the 3DS. Do note however that turning the 3D on will also significantly affect the framerate.

    The amount of content is impressive and the 3DS version offers a new story arc featuring Linkle. The 3DS version does introduce some gameplay enhancements that make the experience a bit more accessible. You can swap between heroes on the fly and direct those you aren't controlling to a different objective point.

    Owners of the older 3DS may want to approach this one with caution. Play a demo if possible to know if you can tolerate the performance. "New" 3DS owners will find a smoother experience that is worth picking up. The game still offers an incredible power trip as you decimate hordes of enemies but your enjoyment may be subject to the hardware you own. For that reason I wish this game might have been a "New" 3DS exclusive.    … Expand

    I feel this game is going to appeal to certain players a lot more than others, it suffers from having to run on both models off 3ds and I feel the 3ds in general may not be the best platform for this style of game.

    It’s a shame that because of the limited processing power Hyrule Warriors lost much of its visual attractiveness and fluidity, but other than that it’s one of the best games in the series. [05/2016, p.75]

    If you only have access to an older 3DS model, it's really a hard sell – except if you have incredible patience. But when the game gets plugged into a New Nintendo 3DS or a New 3DS XL, it's a match made in heaven. [Issue #20 – March/April 2016, p.65]

    Story woes and Link Twoguns’ ridiculous official name aside, Hyrule Warriors Legends has plenty to offer, whether you’re after carefree hack ’n’ slash combat or something more tactical. Even if it’s just the Zelda dressing that’s got your attention, the Musou series staples at the core of the game, so often written off as “mindless” or “boring”, will have you hooked.
