If the review ended right now the game would receive a 9, but sadly the are significant problems that must be addressed. The head-scratching and downright frustrating menu design really put a damper on my experience. Apparently the developers assumed players would only want to replay the level or move on sequentially, as once you complete a level there is no option to return to the level select screen. When going back through the levels to collect missed stars this is simply unacceptable. Then there is the home button on the pause menu, which inconveniently brings the player to the main screen of the game instead of the level select screen. So, in summary: excellent gameplay hampered by god-awful menu design. Expand

Enjoyment for Hazumi will very much depend on the player's determination. A solid core idea is let down by the repetition necessary to succeed, ensuring for many people much of the content will never be seen.

Hazumi is a very basic and very fresh take on the Breakout legacy. it surely doesn't reinvent the wheel in the puzzle game genre, but can be a suitable solution for fans of hardcore games owning a 3DS.

Its 104 puzzles will keep the players entertained and embroiled around its goals while the level editor will allow creative freedom to prevail (despite the lack of a sharing method). But those less prepared should be warned, hazumi is a very tough cookie.
