Aug 1, 2012It's more Harvest Moon, sure, but it's still top-notch fun, and the inclusion of clear goals this time around should convert some new fans to the series.
-
Nintendo PowerOct 6, 2011The Nintendo 3DS version of Natsume's latest farming RPG isn't a major step up from the Nintendo DS release--in fact, they're essentially the same. [Oct 2011, p.84]

Nov 16, 2011Fan of the Harvest Moon formula will find plenty of play value here, though veterans may be frustrated by the lack of control they have over the game's progression.
-
Jul 23, 2012In conclusion, Harvest Moon Tale of Two Towns is a game that takes the previous gaming premise and reintroduces it to a new audience. If you're a regular to this series, there are a few new additions to draw you in but it definitely doesn't have that wow factor.
-
Dec 28, 2011All things considered, the game is cute and fun, with lots to do and see even if it feels like a slightly miniaturized, watered-down Harvest Moon experience. The story is interesting and the new setting of Konohana makes for a very unique feel to the familiar activities. While the 3D can be a little quirky at times, it has some of the prettiest art yet seen.

Nintendo GamerJul 21, 2012Moonites should definitely wait for A New Beginning. [Aug 2012, p.98]
-
Aug 30, 2012Even though Marvelous relies heavy on recycling once again, The Tale of Two Towns entertained me more than its' predecessors.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKAug 9, 2012Too many gimmicks spoil the broth; only the dedicated will reap any rewards. [Sept 2012, p.103]
-
Aug 3, 2012A game with plenty of virtues that serie lovers will appreciate, and very engaging for a very long time. It has all the elements that make this series special, but the formula and visuals have aged a lot, and only hardcore fans will be interested.
-
Jul 13, 2012If you absolutely have to have a 3D Harvest Moon game, this will fill a gap. It's hardly the most expansive and engaging the series has offered in recent times, and its central concept is of the take-it-or-leave-it variety, but it still has the potential to enthral if you let it.
-
Nov 8, 2011At its core, that's really the game's biggest problem -- Two Towns feels like one of the most dumbed down Harvest Moon titles in years, and whatever addiction you'll get maintaining crops/livestock might not outlast the boredom.
-
Hyper MagazineOct 8, 2012A more structured setup does as much to bring a new audience as alienate fans. [Nov 2012, p.80]
-
Aug 3, 2012Charming, laid back and a bit addictive. But the setup and the game mechanics are beginning to feel old. And there's just too much talking.
-
Jun 25, 2012Not an encouraging start for the first Harvest Moon on the 3DS, with a game that struggles to justify not only its own existence but that of the franchise as a whole.
