Simple but genuinely fun, Fairune is one of those titles that are meant to be played all in one go during a rainy day. It's able to arouse attention and curiosity while maintaining undeniably a low profile.

Fairune's a very simple game, but for such a low price it's pretty hard to go wrong. It might not be all that long, but it's enjoyable from start to finish, which is a what we hope for in a download.

Fairune is an appealing and fun effort, full of interesting and addicting puzzles which is set to capture the attention of fans of the 8-bit generation and beyond.

As the basic framework of a game, it serves adequately, but that's about the most praise possible.

With nothing to do other than explore and combat enemies, the fact that both systems are insultingly simple means that Fairune has no value, whatsoever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A simple but fun game, many of the puzzles were clever and it was nice that the game didn't feel the need to hand-hold you at all. I had genuine fun with these puzzles. They were clever, not the easiest to solve, but not impossibly hard. This is something most puzzle games struggle with. Either the puzzles are so easy they're more set dressing than puzzle, or they're so obscure that you almost can't solve them without a guide. I paid $3 for this and I feel like I got my value out of it.

I would have rated the game higher, but it suffers really bad from last-level-itis. They clearly didn't know how they really wanted to end the game so after 3+ hours of puzzle solving and running into monsters to kill them, the game turns into... a bullet-hell shooter? What? This is not what I've been playing for the last 3 hours, why would I want to start playing it now? It makes no sense and really robs the game's charm right at the close of it, which is just a shame.

For most the game, a solid 8. For the ending, a solid 4. So we'll meet in the middle since the end is so crucial to any game. Getting it right is very important and this was not the right way to do it. Why couldn't you just let me run into the guy and blow him up? It would have been the sweet reward at the end of the trip. Oh well.
