Featuring stunning production values and an immense amount of content, this is a diamond for the fans of the series, while those not into Dragon Ball might not feel like they are the target of this game's appeal.

To our biggest surprise, Dragon Ball Fusions could be one of the best Dragon Ball Games with over 170 fighters in the roster and countless fusions possibilities. On the other hands, the story is very dull and the farming quite tedious. You might want to give it a try if you like the DBZ IP and own a 3DS.

Fusions is an excellent game if you are looking for a new Dragon Ball game to play on 3DS.

Dragon Ball Fusions is really nice game: despite being a little repetitive, rather slow-paced and overall simple, it has a deep combat system that blends seamlessly strategy and sheer chaos, making it a truly fun experience. Perfect if you're a fan of the series, or if you want some strategy in your gaming sessions.

Dragon Ball Fusions is a fun adventure in this popular franchise that gives players a new adventure to embark on with lots of cameos, fun storytelling and good (although repetitive) combat mechanics. Sure, there’s a bit of grinding when it comes to leveling up and collecting energy to access new areas but the gameplay works well on the 3DS with that enjoyable Dragon Ball humour. Best of all, the game gives something to both newcomers and fans!

Dragon Ball Fusions offers a fresh new take on Dragon Ball video games. Thanks to its fun new concept and its healthy dose of fan service, the game deserves to be on fans' (Dragon) radar.

Forget the disappointing video game adaptations of the past, Dragon Ball has finally come of age on consoles. Dragon Ball Fusions fuses fan service with an enjoyable story and battle system to create a fresh Dragon Ball video game experience, with the only blot being the sometimes tedious energy aquisition process . If you are looking for a new and original Dragon Ball title to play on your 3DS, your wish has been granted.

It’s one of the more addictive games I’ve touched this year. The Dragon Ball fan in me loves the fact that I can fuse Frieza with Cooler, and Arale with Android 18. The RPG fan in me loves the interesting combat and addictive nature of collecting every character and super move. If you fall into either of those categories, then I have no reservations about recommending this. It’s some of the most fun I’ve had with my 3DS this year.

Dragon Ball Fusions delivers a fresh take on one of the most heavily adapted franchises. Not only is the role-playing game unique in that it tells an all-new story, it has a fantastic battle system that has plenty of depth hidden under an easy-to-learn exterior. This is a must-own 3DS title for fans of Dragon Ball, and a good RPG that doesn't have to rely upon nostalgia as a core selling point.

Based on its turn-based combat alone, Dragon Ball Fusions distinguishes itself from other role-playing games.

We appreciate the effort to widen and reinvent the Dragon Ball Universe. Fans will find tons of secrets, surprises and tongue-in-cheek references, but the rest of mortals might feel this experience to be a bit repetitive and out of focus.

Different and fun RPG that will be perfect for any kind of Dragon Ball Fans, but it's far from being perfect as itself.

Dragon Ball Fusions is an original and different Dragon Ball game with dynamic and strategic combat system, full of playable characters and solid custom system. However, it's too repetitive if you go for 100%.

Fusions is a good game Dragon Ball fans will enjoy. It doesn't try to be a very complex RPG, so if you're ok with that you'll have a good time with it.

Dragon Ball Fusions feels like a very good start to a nice spinoff. It looks great, offers fan service and of course a huge amount of fights. The game focuses on humour though. It gets repetitive after a while.

Tedium aside, I enjoyed my time with Dragon Ball Fusions. The game’s battle system is pretty enjoyable, and the story is a nice change of pace from normal Dragon Ball games that just parrot stories from the various sagas. It’s nothing revolutionary, and there are certainly some problems here and there, but Dragon Ball Fusions is a fun game that takes its creative license to create an enjoyable experience.

The best part on Dragon Ball Fusions is the interesting combat system that uses the turn based strategy and the distribution of the characters of the teams on the arena. The different experiments with fusions and recruiting hundreds of characters will be enjoyable for the fans the series, the rest of the game could be repetitive after some hours.

When I first saw it I thought it looked interesting but never imagined I'd have so much fun playing it. I'll start with the pros.

    Pros +

    1. The combat system works really well. I'm a long time fan of turn based combat and found the addition of interactive elements and player placement helped keep things fast paced.
    2. The art style is excellent, it looks great for a 3ds game.
    3. The level design was great. The game is divided into 7 stages and i found myself eager to unlock them just so I could see which iconic area was next.
    4. The fusions system works well and its quite fun to see what you can create.
    5. I never needed to grind so the game never dragged for me.
    6. There are a lot of sidequests. Most of them are typical fetch quests, pointless flying through ring games or just more fighting but it is a lot of fun finding your favorite characters around each map and talking to them.
    7. There's a huge amount of fan service. Characters from dragonball, dragonball z, gt and super along with the movies.
    8. The story is new and doesn't rely on reusing scenes from the anime like a lot of dragonball games. It's not amazing but I liked it and the final fights were pretty cool.

    Cons -

    1. The fights can be quite long, although as the game doesn't require much grinding this didn't bother me.
    2. A lot of reviewers complained that the attack animations are lengthy but I really enjoyed them with the exception of ring outs. When your character is knocked out of the ring you see the same animation of them flying through a mountain. It gets old and afterwards you have to reposition them on the map so this can slow the pace of combat.
    3. Recruiting characters can be annoying. You have to build up an attack meter and then launch a special move but it can be blocked. Also later in the game it's a challenge to build your attack meter without knocking everyone out first.
    4. You need to collect energy to progress to the next stage. This could be a little annoying but it didn't take too much time.

Overall this is a really impressive game. I bought xenoverse at the same time but found fusions much more addictive. If you're a dragon ball/rpg fan and a 3ds owner then I really couldn't recommend it enough.

This game goes back to the early days when DBZ (or even DB) could be experienced as an RPG. This game has a unique approach to RPG as it's both turn-based and action (think paper mario) with a twist of Pokemon. The game is set in its own world where all the timelines/ages are multiversed into its own... well... multiverse. The worlds, or levels, almost feel like dreams or realities molding into one another. In one world hercule city sits next to a elevated cliff that holds Cell's arena. Off in the distance is the ruins of another city with a post-apocalyptic looking Capsule Corp. (ie future trunks timeline) with a lower region looking like the canyon where Dr. Gero's lab was hidden. So you can clearly see each level/world is compiled of the corresponding saga's. The game gets a solid 5/10 for something fresh. We've played the same DBZ games since the ps2/gamecube era starting nearly 15yrs ago; not even Xenoverse gets a free pass on that one. So this felt like a breath of fresh air. The RNG in the game would have to be it's weakest point (currently on world 4 out of 6 at time of writing this) followed by the strength/weakness trinity system and how each character fits into one of those (and how rare it is to find them... looking at you Power types). If I had to fix anything, or pray it was patched, it would be the resources needed to progress in the game. There are literally 6 of them and you are not guaranteed any after winning a fight. You will need 50 of that one source and hunt down targets flying around with the corresponding color type and they will not reward you what you seek. They might even reward you a different type that you don't need. For that the game is tedious and the higher level you get the more HP enemies have and the less impact your attacks feel they have. At least the combat is fun. Full Review »
