  • Summary: Enter 19th century Europe and the world of Doctor Jean-Pierre Lautrec. He’s a brilliant, eccentric, sarcastic professor with few friends but a healthy obsession for solving mysteries. They are blocked at every turn by the Knights of the Iron Mask, a mysterious group of men with iron masks and claws. Work as Doctor Lautrec, aided by his perky and emotional sidekick Sophie, to unlock the mysteries within and search for the lost treasure of Louis XIV. Search for clues, solve puzzles to unlock new mysteries and gain more information as the quest continues.     Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights combines Zelda gameplay with Pokèmon stlye fights with a hint of Layton puzzles. A recipe for an adventure hit!

    Whilst not the superb Professor Layton competitor that people were expecting, Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is a pleasant surprise, proving to be an intriguing prospect on its own merits.

    In the end Doctor Lautrec is really enjoyable when you play it and boring when you're sitting through long cutscenes and dialog exchanges between its bland cast of chracters. It's just too bad the gameplay is spread too far and too thin

    Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is interesting only in how miserably it misses the Layton mark. While its presentation is wondrous, the actual game part is terrible. No part of the game succeeds enough to make the other parts worth slogging through. Unless you're hard up for a game that slightly resembles much better games, you are best off avoiding Doctor Lautrec's debut journey at all costs.

    With all of the incredibly boring slogging that goes on between puzzles, and considering that the quality of the puzzles themselves ranges from bad to mediocre, Doctor Lautrec and the Forgotten Knights is impossible to recommend to even the most ravenous puzzle players. Even if this game were available for free, I wouldn't recommend spending time with it.

Now where have I heard that before.....hmm... oh, that's right! Professor Layton! You know, those actually good puzzle games that are well-paced, re-playable, and overall amazing?
    Yeah, those.
    If you're looking for a puzzle game, get a Layton game instead. If you're looking for a burning, messy, chaotic pile of rat sh*t, you've come to the right place! Because Doctor... Lautrec is the pinnacle of disappointment. If you're in this for the low-quality Pokemon-esque battles, go get a Pokemon game.
    If you're in this for the puzzles, go get a Layton game. If you're in this for the memes, I respect your dedication. But no matter why you're playing this abomination, you're NOT going to finish it.

    If you're reading this review because you're interested in playing the game, just get it off eBay for cheap. This isn't worth full price. Spend your money on a Layton game instead. It's worth it.    … Expand

    I never finished it, what I can say is Lautrec is more of a gentleman than Professor Layton, just look at that mustache, sadly that's all his bootlegged ass is good for as he's currently stuck in some cave endlessly trying to sneak past policemen who are down protecting a treasure for eternity for some unexplained reason.
    Not a spoiler.
    First 3 hours.
    Which is as far as you'll get with these **** ass stealth sections, so I just saved you from trying it out to see what the game is about, you're welcome.    … Expand
