This game is good for your first 3ds game or when you are waiting for the next great 3ds title. I wouldn't recommend this game for the hardcore unless your a hardcore fan of DOA. Most of the single player modes will last you a day or two. The Tag Missions are great for Co-Op Online or Local, but the AI partner will leave you fustrated. The internet gameplay is horrible. There is a lot of lag, no rematch selection, and the ranking system is awful. If your depending on the online you may want to either look at the current options for online gameplay, or wait for something better. The Streetpass/Spotpass for this game is the best unless you don't live near a well populated area with people who also own this game on their 3DS. In which case your just gonna have to wait for the weekly Spotpass download Challenge. Spotpass downloads are daily costumes for different characters. The Character Roster is unbalanced. It does use the 3d feature well, but this game is a rent or a discount buy at best. It's not worth the $39.99 new. Expand

I HATE THIS GAME!!! one of the worst fighting games i have ever played 'oooo but it has samus and ridely' I DON'T CARE THE GAME SHOULD BE BURIED LIKE ET don't buy it it's crap there are mechanics that are fun, but then they go ahead and get rid of them as if to say, 'what he likes that? well lets get rid of it before he enjoys himself' they are even lazy in cutscenes giving characters noI HATE THIS GAME!!! one of the worst fighting games i have ever played 'oooo but it has samus and ridely' I DON'T CARE THE GAME SHOULD BE BURIED LIKE ET don't buy it it's crap there are mechanics that are fun, but then they go ahead and get rid of them as if to say, 'what he likes that? well lets get rid of it before he enjoys himself' they are even lazy in cutscenes giving characters no lip sync as if it where an anime but then decides 'hey lets add lip sync' it's dumb, even the gameplay is stupid, your opponent can perform theese crazy combo moves so i'm like 'hey i wanna do that, that looks cool!' but then you check the moves list and find out they don't exist... yeah they let the AI do the combos but not you?!?! street fighter does it and everyone loves it, mortal kombat does it and everyone loves it, virtua fighter, smash bros, ect ect ect! why do the devs think to do this? also the difficulty curves are ridiculous! for instance in tag team if you die you get one more revival which is cool! i'd like more games to do that! and then the AI is easy but next round you don't get a revive and the AI is stupidly OP all the ones before ryu and hayate are easy if you stand there they don't attack but ryu and hayate are relentless they don't stop attacking block almost every move and worst of all you don't have your revival thing you had before? it's dumb i don't get it and this game was released to celebrate 10 years of DoA? well what a stupid way to celebrate get your franchise you're celebrating and ruin it. it's dumb i hate it 0/10 Expand

I can't speak for the multiplayer, but the single player is the worst. I never found myself even wanting to play after Chapter 1 of Chronicles mode. I did, however, manage to trudge through Chapter 4. It could be my bias since I'm an 80's baby, but I much prefer games like Street Fighter (not alpha) that don't make you memorize countless sequences of similar moves. If you like Dead or Alive and own a 3DS, you will surely be happy with Dead or Alive: Dimensions.

Dimensions is a surprisingly good fighter for a handheld platform, full of jiglly graphics and good single player content. Even though my personal pick would be Street Fighter 4, Dead or Alive is still a good purchase. [Aug 2011]

Dead or Alive Dimensions does a great job at creating a true Dead or Alive experience on a portable console.
