Cross a busy road avoiding the traffic, dart across train lines missing the speeding trains and leap across gushing rivers on moving logs. One mistake and it's game over.

Move your character one step at a time knowing that one wrong step means certain death. Reach each designated checkpoint on your life-or-death journey and then find the goal to clear the stage. Make use of footbridges and invincibility stars to bypass certain-death points or use your character's special skill such as slow motion or walking on water to cheat death.

There are four playable characters to choose from, each with their own skill that can be used a certain number of times in each stage.

Try your skill on two game modes.

-Goal Run Mode challenges you to reach each checkpoint and then the goal.
-Survival Run Mode tests your survival skills as you dodge traffic on a bustling highway and over train lines for 60 seconds!

For all its ups and downs, Dangerous Road is a solid Frogger clone. While the packaging may be damaged, the main game is still remarkably fun. It's arguably simple and often negates its own challenges, but it's still a fun little game. The authenticity of the movement and the inclusion of a checkpoint system makes it a solid choice for any Frogger fan—just be prepared for the few glaring issues.

Dangerous Road might scratch that crossing itch on the 3DS for fanatics of this style of game, but not in a way that feels broadly compelling. A desire for tighter responsiveness aside, it functions reasonably well. Still, with repetitive gameplay, frustratingly unintended deaths, and little sense of skill or accomplishment, some chickens will want to stay on their side of the Interstate.
