Oct 2, 2017Culdcept Saga is, with or without dice, absolutely brilliant, and the kind of game I can see myself playing for a very long time into the future. It successfully takes a couple of different approaches to traditional board and card games, and fuses them into something that you can spend a lot of time learning to master, and feeling really good about yourself as you do.

Oct 8, 2017Even with its faults, Culdcept Revolt is one of the most addictive 3DS games that I've ever played. If you're a fan of Monopoly and JRPGs then this is a game that you need to add to your collection.

Dec 7, 2017Seasoned card battlers and intrigued newcomers alike should be interested in Culdcept Revolt. Its complexity and customisability makes it one of the most replayable games in the 3DS' library, even just in single-player, while its accessible online play and well-crafted tutorial make it a perfect jumping-on point. More than just a card gaming simulator, there's plenty of care and attention poured into this; its wealth of cards and malleable multiplayer make it a genuinely viable alternative to traditional tabletop games.

Nintendo Force MagazineOct 30, 2017A fresh experience for both the trading card and board game enthusiast. [Issue #30 – November/December 2017, p. 76]

Oct 6, 2017Despite its intimidating outer layer, Culdcept Revolt is something of a hidden gem that deserves the attention of anyone with an interest in card collecting, strategy, or even just board games in general. It's wildly addictive, and boasts a robust single player component as well as both local and online multiplayer to satisfy any craving for its unique, genre-blending mechanics. While Revolt's unflinching dedication to these core mechanics does hurt its story somewhat through repetition, new players will be welcomed by a wonderfully-implemented tutorial, while returning cepters have plenty of new tweaks and features to check out.

Sep 26, 2017Culpcet Revolt celebrates its 20th anniversary by arriving to Nintendo 3DS with a great quality game that will be a true experience for the fans of the saga and the RPG genre.
-
Oct 3, 2017A crazy mix between Monopoly and Magic The Gathering, Culdcept Revolt is an amazing and addictive game, though you must be prepared to very, very long and slow gaming sessions which badly fit an handheld device.
-
Jan 3, 2018I definitely think Culdcept Revolt is a neat game, and worth checking out on 3DS. There definitely aren’t a lot of games out there that emulate the experience of a deck-building CCG, and certainly none that employ the other board game elements that the Culdcept series does. If you’ve ever been curious about the series, I would certainly suggest starting here.
-
Sep 29, 2017While it requires a fair time investment to get sunk in and the AI could definitely stand to have its fangs pulled out, Culdcept Revolt offers a wonderfully rich tabletop experience that would be impossible to replicate on a tabletop. It’s unlike almost anything else available today.
-
Sep 28, 2017Culdcept Revolt remains a complex, intriguing and multifaceted game dedicated to anyone looking for an original production and exquisitely Japanese taste.
-
Sep 27, 2017Culdcept Revolt is a niche game that is directed at those willing to take a chance on a series that disappeared for quite awhile.
-
Nov 9, 2017Culdcept Revolt is the last chapter of a twenty years old franchise. The gameplay is surely bound to the standard of the series, though there are some brand new elements and support for local and online multiplayer. It’s surely a niche game, and even if it could feel great at times, luck factor has too much impact on game mechanics, resulting in a good amount of frustration.
-
Oct 20, 2017The story might be largely irrelevant, but the gameplay is absolutely excellent especially if you’re into other trading card games and/or board games and becomes even better in multiplayer. It finds a happy medium squarely as part of both those genres with a variety of card art and abilities that make for a wide range of deck strategies and replayability.
-
Oct 4, 2017The concept is simultaneously inventive and archaic, doling out moments of pure delight and agonizing frustration in equal doses. Culdcept Revolt is such a niche title – perhaps the most niche game in my gaming history – I can’t tell you if you’ll like it. What I can tell you is as someone who is a bit of a masochist for these types of experiences, I enjoy it very much.
-
Sep 26, 2017Culdecept Revolt wants to bring new players to this series and the game does a good job at explaining its mechanics and welcoming new players. It feels odd that the touchscreen of the Nintendo 3DS is left out of the equation but the game's long lifespan, its varied visual environment and game mechanics make this an interesting and involving proposal that will keep players around it for many hours on end.
-
Sep 26, 2017Culdcept Revolt tries its best to combine classic board and card games, but the execution is lacking in more complex strategies, making players feel as though they’re not building towards a strong end goal. Those interested in Culdcept Revolt will likely find the most enjoyment in competing against others online, rather than NPCs who feel as though they’re wasting the player’s time going through every motion another human player would do in full detail. With a likable cast of characters, interesting story and a wide variety of cards to create unique decks, Culdcept Revolt has a good premise that doesn’t pay off quite as well as intended.
-
Sep 30, 2017Culdcept Revolt is undoubtedly an innovative game with remarkable ideas. It's a shame that the RNG factor has an excessive impact on the entire match.
-
Oct 5, 2017Culdcept Revolt is a huge time commitment and is not for the faint of heart. It’s about as niche and unique of an experience as you can get. If you are a masochistic tabletop guru, then this is right up your alley.
-
Oct 2, 2017An ingenious combat system for a card game that combines styles. It fails in its execution, making each combat too humdrum.

Sep 26, 2017It feels like a game that’ll be a cult hit, but won’t be a breakout hit. Hopefully I’m wrong and Revolt rolls a 12 so that we keep getting more games with faster localizations.
