    Chicken Wiggle is a retro-styled 2D platformer, which is not the most original of concepts but it has a value of its own, especially when considering its online component and level editor, which do a very competent work at making this game a memorable experience. Despite the game's shortcomings, it still has a lot going for it, including its audiovisual component and a simple, intuitive gameplay.

    Chicken Wiggle is a game that delights in so many ways, even if it also manages to disappoint in some. While the main campaign isn’t much to write home about, it works well as a varied tutorial that teaches you the ins and outs so you can design levels of your own. The user-generated content is the real star of the show here, and there will no doubt be plenty to look forward to in the coming months and years. We would give Chicken Wiggle a recommendation to anyone who really appreciated Super Mario Maker; there’s lots of creativity to explore here, and it’s a game that’ll keep on giving.

    At the very least it’s very easy to share a level, and being able to do so extends the replay value of the game by quite a bit. It’s possible to go on and snag new creations from fellow fans as well as Atooi itself. That’s a great bonus, especially for someone like me who’s much more prone to play a game than make one. Overall Chicken Wiggle is a wonderful inaugural release for the folks at Atooi. Sales have been low on this one, but with millions of 3DS and 2DS handhelds on the market there’s no excuse for that; go support the game and give it a download!

    It has charm but lacks key elements to keep players engaged and invested in its main characters. Where the game really shines is in its presentation and as a game maker thanks to its excellent “design and share” level editor. If you want to play around with your game design skills I’d recommend this title but if you’re looking for a fun and challenging 2D platformer there are just too many better ones to recommend on the 3DS.

    Younger players will get the most out of what Chicken Wiggle offers; a cute, colourful and vibrant platformer to run amok in, with the added bonus of being able to create their own levels. Had the game been brave enough to innovate beyond well-known staples of the genre, it may well have been great for adults too.

    Chicken Wiggle is something special. Coming from the developers behind games like Mutant Mudds, Xeodrifter, Bomb Monkey, and other pixel artChicken Wiggle is something special. Coming from the developers behind games like Mutant Mudds, Xeodrifter, Bomb Monkey, and other pixel art adventures (not to mention the 3d games, Dementium, Moon etc.) this is not a surprise. Atooi, / Jools Watsham have brought back a bit of love to 2d platforming that I haven't felt in a long time.

    Unlike most 2d platformers nowadays, that rely on overly realistic animation, and floaty controls, Chicken Wiggle excels at being as precise as you can get. Perfect controls, great feel and a host of unique level designs, and creative mechanics are what really sets this game apart, above the rest. The campaign was a joy to play through, and the included level editor is almost more impressive. The user created content supported by the developers and game players is already chock full of interesting levels, and I can't wait to jump back in to complete a level and finally upload it.

    Some small negatives that I need to mention though, is that for about 50% of the game it is relatively easy, however this doesn't tear the game down too much as collecting all of the 100 diamonds in each level is a blast, and oh so satisfying. The only other negative I have is the F U N collectibles hidden throughout the levels. I wish these letters took more skill to obtain, rather than hidden in very similar walls and locations throughout the levels.

    Overall: I highly recommend this game. The level design, controls, and mechanics truly shine, and I dare you to tell me of a more refined 2d platformer made by a 2 person team.    … Full Review »

It is a very easy game 75% of the time (it gets a little bit harder after level 5), but I kept wanting to play more and collect everything. I gotta say it sucks that you do not get anything/unlock anything for collecting everything which I was not aware of. The gameplay mechanics are simple and well done. The few abilities were very nice, but not often obtainable. It took me about 4-5 hours to complete at 100%. The ‘‘hidden’’ letters are often on your way therefore you cannot missed them which sucked. Interesting game to play thought. I am giving it a 7 because I cannot give a 7.5, but it would have been a 8 if the game was harder and the letters hard to find. I did not try the level editor option as it never interested me to create levels. I personally think it was worth my $20 (Canadian).… Full Review »
