Mar 23, 2017It’s intended to be the final piece of the BoxBoy! puzzle, and it’s going out on the highest note possible.

Nintendo Force MagazineJun 23, 2017If this is indeed Qbby's final quest, then it's been a fine finale. [Issue #28 – July/August 2017, p. 18]

CD-ActionJun 7, 2017BoxBoy is the champion among puzzle platformers and the only flaw I can think of is that the game lasts for a couple of hours while it should never end. [06/2017, p.59]

Apr 24, 2017Bye-Bye Boxboy! is a succinct, value-packed title. It’s the bookend of a great puzzle series and it doesn’t try to be more than what it is — an addictive puzzler that’s accessible and not overly difficult. For only $5, it’s an excellent deal and can be enjoyed it short five minute spurts or for much longer at a time. No 3D support is included, so you can enjoy this just as well on a 2DS as a 3DS. If you’re into puzzlers, or this series already, this is probably the easiest recommendation I’ll make all year.

Mar 24, 2017HAL Laboratory's Bye-Bye BoxBoy! it's a brilliantly designed and delightful puzzle game. New mechanics and ideas come and go constantly. A jewel in the Nintendo 3DS's eShop.

Jun 7, 2017And that sums it all up. Bye-Bye Boxboy! packs a lot of punch for its size. Its combination of platforming and puzzle-solving is unique, and its simple premise gets complex early in the game. The additional content is anything but slim, and not only adds, but enhances the experience of the game. The developers did a great job of crossing classic platforming with new puzzle-solving to create a new style of game that exercises the mind.
-
Apr 25, 2017Despite the title, Bye-Bye Boxboy does not feel like the conclusion of a trilogy. The second game added more variables to the main puzzle-solving mechanic, but the third entry feels new and different. I would absolutely play another Boxboy if it continues to experiment with abilities like it has here. But if Bye-Bye Boxboy does mark an end for HAL’s quirky puzzle series, then it ends on a high note.

Apr 18, 2017Bye-Bye Box Boy! is a fitting farewell to a beloved sleeper hit. Its minimalist charm and some great puzzle mechanics grant a feeling of excitement for which all puzzle games should strive. I would love to see Qbby star on the Switch, but until then, this game marks the end of an amazing series.

Mar 24, 2017Bye-bye BoxBoy is one of those game any 3DS owner who likes puzzles should try. It's clever, well designed, and considering its price, we can't really ask for more.
-
Mar 23, 2017Levels take around two to three minutes to clear, so Bye-Bye is well-suited for portable play.
-
Mar 23, 2017Bye-Bye BoxBoy! is a fitting farewell to Qbby's journey. The final story bits were more impactful than I hoped and there’s still plenty of clever puzzles to solve. Naturally, the game doesn't feel as fresh as the previous two, but the charm is there in spades. Bye-Bye BoxBoy! succeeded in keeping me entertained for over ten hours, which is what I truly want from another BoxBoy! entry. If you want more BoxBoy puzzles, you've come to the right place.
-
May 10, 2017BYE-BYE BOXBOY! is a fitting farewell to our favourite monochromatic cuboid. Clever, but not too challenging puzzles, a decent if not toe-tapping soundtrack and an adventure that ends before it becomes tiresome make for a winning formula, especially considering the low asking price for a HAL Laboratory title. If you’re itching for something to do on your 3DS and want the most bang for your buck, you could do far worse.
-
May 7, 2017If this really is the end of BOXBOY!, then it's an excellent high to go out on. Qbby's puzzling adventures in BYE-BYE BOXBOY! make for just as much of an addictive, brain-tickling masterpiece as they did in 2015. The amount of new material in the game is laudable, and it's all employed successfully: this is a finale worth checking out, be it by newcomers or veterans, alike.
-
May 4, 2017Housing over 180 cubed filled levels to solve at a bargain price of only $4.99, it’s easy to recommend Bye-Bye Boxboy to anyone who enjoys a good puzzle game.
-
May 2, 2017Bye-Bye BoxBoy! is an excellent sendoff to Nintendo’s underrated square mascot. With nearly two dozen worlds of 6-8 levels each, there are at least seven hours of gameplay, not including extras. If you’ve played the first two games, you know what you’re in for. Though the core concepts are identical, Qbabies and special powers keep the geometric puzzler fresh. If you haven’t experienced the BoxBoy! series and can only pick one, Bye-Bye BoxBoy! has the most variety, providing the most value. Otherwise, picking up the whole trilogy is a great solution for anyone seeking ingenious portable puzzles in bulk. Bye-Bye, BoxBoy! We’ll miss you!
-
Apr 24, 2017Back to basics with new types of blocks to boot, there couldn't have been a better way to say farewell for BoxBoy.
-
Apr 19, 2017A great conclusion to this underappreciated puzzle series, Bye-Bye BoxBoy! is a must buy for anyone who enjoyed the previous games. It also serves as a nice jumping on point, giving players tons of new, fun puzzles to work through with some cool new mechanics.
-
Apr 6, 2017Levels are short, and as suitable for a quick play whilst commuting as they are for a longer play session. You can choose to test your puzzling chops by collecting crowns, but this is entirely at your discretion. BYE-BYE BOXBOY! does everything it can to create and maintain a mindful chilled environment, and it’s a really pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.
-
Mar 27, 2017The experience is especially well suited to the 3DS, and although this is supposedly the last of the series we do hope some kind of compilation can be made for the Switch. We won’t mind if there’s never another sequel though. For in a world where no franchise is ever allowed to die a dignified death it’s nice to know that Qbby has been all that he can be, and that his final adventure was his best.
-
Mar 24, 2017The third title in the BOXBOY! series is a marvel of creative and addictive puzzles, with plenty of charm presented in a minimalist visual style that will find its place with a large segment of players. Not going off key with the predecessors' magnificent quality standards, BYE-BYE BOXBOY! is a stunning game that will end its trilogy in the best possible way, if this is indeed the series' end.
-
Mar 31, 2017Bye-Bye BoxBoy is a great little title that is well worth your time. The gameplay is simple, the puzzles built around them are clever, and the game is only let down by challenges being a tad too simple – at least until the post credit worlds, where it flips to hard. Despite this, its charming aesthetic makes it a handheld game that’s hard to put down when you’re on the go.
-
Apr 20, 2017After a long and exasperating day at work, Bye-Bye Boxboy! is the kind of relaxing mindgame you want to come home to. It’s cute and laidback while being devoid of the design-based frustrations that plague many puzzle platformers. By remaining user-friendly, Bye-Bye Boxboy! promises that you’ll remain engaged in your journey with Qbby from start to finish through the game’s hundreds of brilliant, physics and geometry-based platforming puzzles. Though Bye-Bye Boxboy! plays it safe in a way that makes it less than memorable, you’ll nonetheless find its gentle challenges rewarding.
-
Apr 18, 2017Bye-Bye BoxBoy! is being billed as the last of the BoxBoy! trilogy and if this is where things truly end I think that’s for the better. Qbby is great and this monochrome world is wonderful, but I feel as though its basic puzzle formula is on the cusp of getting stale.
