Mar 14, 2014An interesting take on the Metroidvania formula enriched with creative time manipulation.
-
Mar 10, 2014Aeterno Blade is Castlevania on a budget. Messy visuals, whiffy animation, endlessly recycled enemies, middling bosses.
-
Feb 13, 2014AeternoBlade may not move the genre forward in any way, but it's a fun little game for action enthusiasts. It has a deep combat system, just the right amount of RPG elements, and an engaging enough narrative to keep things moving.
-
Mar 12, 2014Turns out Aeterno Blade is that kind of game which is filled with good intentions: it's interesting and engaging and it offers plenty of customization but once you hit the road not everything works as it should.
-
Apr 1, 2014Although this modest, vintage flavoured production stands in the shadow of a glorious vampire slayer franchise, AertenoBlade reveals a sharp edge through time manipulation, these mechanics applying efficiently to the narrative, the puzzles and the gameplay.
-
Mar 20, 2014AeternoBlade offers decent combat, platforming and puzzles that involve its time manipulation mechanic. Unfortunately, it is lacking polish, and several cheap segments later in the game can lead to unnecessary frustration.
-
Mar 9, 2014The game does not work as good as we think the dev team planned, but it offers some interesting ideas and does entertain. We recommend trying the demo first, since it might be a choice worth considering.
-
Mar 5, 2014Overall this is a decent game with a deep combat system and some replay value if you want to explore the levels fully and find every hidden item. A weak story with a nasty potential glitch keep this game from being as good as it could have been. Fans of classic Castlevania games should especially enjoy this experience.
-
Mar 24, 2014Rather than the fast-paced, explorative action platformer with a cool time traveling twist, Aeternoblade turns out as a dull repetitive button mashing without much soul.
-
Mar 26, 2014Another bland metroidvania game with nothing particularly exciting to offer. There are too many great alternatives to give this one a shot.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKMay 6, 2014Not worth the exorbitant eShop price. [May 2014, p.88]
-
Mar 19, 2014AeternoBlade gets several points of the videogames textbook right but it doesn't go beyond that, almost as if the skeleton was enough to give a soul to a body. While technically competent, though far from impressive, this game offers very little to those already familiar with both action games and RPGs. Add to that a painstaking navigation through the off-play menus, and here's the formula for an overwhelmingly disappointing and frustrating experience.
-
Feb 20, 2014AeternoBlade isn't a bad game, it's just bland and occasionally frustrating.
-
Apr 11, 2014This is a game with bad production, a weak story, a distant combat system and characters far from charismatic. All this makes for a boring and painful experience.
