Dec 12, 2011In all fairness though Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is one of the best aerial combat games that I've ever played and the folks over at Namco Bandai delivered another fantastic addition to their critically acclaimed franchise. It has the right amount of action, easy to use and fluid controls and great visuals for a 3DS title. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is totally worth the price of admission and a must have if you own a Nintendo 3DS.

Jan 3, 2012With Project Aces' first foray onto the 3DS comes a build that, despite a few engine hiccups, manages to provide more than its fair share of entertainment value, albeit as a sole skycrawler instead of a squadron force.
-
Jan 3, 2012Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy brings a touch of the series' new gameplay elements along with a few of the old, establishing itself as the true Ace Combat début title for Nintendo consoles, making up for 2002's GBA misstep.
-
Jan 2, 2012Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is a pretty cool arcade-flight simulation on the 3DS. There is absolutely no game that can challenge Namco's jet-game. The 3D-effect is stunning and the controls are well-planned. It could have been an awesome game, if there were multiplayer modes, a better use of the 3ds features and a bit more content. Nevertheless, on the long run, it's a solid game.
-
Dec 25, 2011Legacy is a great addition to the series and the 3DS-library, as it brings the intense dogfights to the handheld. It also uses the 3D-effect to its full advantage and offers variation in the missions. It's a shame it's quite short, though.
-
Dec 13, 2011Truly impressive just as it is, and it deserves the attention of any Nintendo fans who've either always been curious about this series or just love flying through the sky to blow stuff up.
-
Dec 4, 2011The combat is rather fast, and skilled pilots will like the new maneuver feature. The overall campaign may be on the short side, but the missions are fast paced and always full of action. The game controls well, and it looks and sounds amazing. The 3-D is a nice touch but not exactly necessary.
-
Nov 28, 2011Beyond just the graphical limitations, this is a game that feels as if it could not have existed on the DS in a scaled-down form. The speed, the style, and action are all fantastically engrossing. In terms of sheer thrills it's hard to imagine there's much like it on the 3DS.
-
Nov 22, 2011Ace Combat flies onto the 3DS in impressive fashion. Worth checking out for series fans and anyone that likes aerial combat.
-
Nov 17, 2011To say Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy surprised us would be a huge understatement. This game, originally feared to be a dud, is one of the more impressive 3DS games you'll see. That said, we hope the publisher releases more Ace Combats in the years ahead.
-
Jan 3, 2012Ace Combat Legacy does a good job of delivering exactly what you would expect it to, some fun portable aerial arcade action.
-
Nov 28, 2011Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy succeeds primarily because it sticks to the original Ace Combat format without trying to dress the series up as something it's not.
-
Dec 1, 2011Frenetic and well tailored to the handheld, but lacks story and features.
-
Dec 13, 2011A good portable version of the Namco-Bandai Saga. Unfortunately, gameplay is strictly arcade and this might discourage many gamers.
-
Nintendo PowerNov 8, 2011Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy may not be a beefy adventure, but because virtually everything that's great about Namco Bandai's long-running series is present here, it's well worth playing. [Nov 2011, p.78]
-
Nintendo GamerJan 14, 2012A robust, well-crafted 3D air combat game. [Christmas 2011, p.74]
-
Dec 19, 2011Although isn't the best game of the series, Assault Horizon is an interesting title for 3DS.
-
Dec 13, 2011A good game for fans of the brand thanks to classic gameplay, but disadvantaged by low longevity, from repetitive missions, the lack of an online mode, and from a 3D effect not essential.
-
Feb 20, 2012Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy won't leave much of a legacy behind but it is a decent game and if you've enjoyed any others in the rich history of this franchise, you should definitely set your sights on it.
-
Feb 6, 2012Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy is an awesome experience if we consider the special adaptation to 3DS.
-
Jan 10, 2012An impressive if slightly lacking debut that delivers high-octane thrills by the bucketful.
-
Dec 16, 2011A very entertaining game that is able to engage us with its action formula. It has lots of content, although the initial missions are repetitive, but they improve as we progress through the game. We miss a multiplayer mode, although the game challenges us to keep playing to obtain new planes, medals and improvements.
-
Dec 16, 2011Although its gameplay might be too simple and accessible for fans of the franchise, it's undeniable that Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy represents a worthy debut on 3DS.
-
Dec 8, 2011This game doesn't contain the "legacy" of Assault Horizon. It isn't as fun as PS3/360 version, and oversimplifies the experience. However, the 3D effect and being able to carry anywhere is an idea so powerful as an war aircraft.
-
Dec 5, 2011An excellent portable flight sim that will please both series fans and newcomers - until they realise how short and underdeveloped it is.
-
Dec 5, 2011A hybrid game of mixed success, Legacy reconciles Ace Combat's past and present while failing to offer enough diversity and features to make the results essential.
-
Nov 22, 2011Unfortunately, and bafflingly, there is no multiplayer in AHL. It's a huge shame, as the quick-paced, finger-breaking dogfights would have lent themselves well to co-op. Even still, there are plenty of unlockables and challenges to keep gamers in the cockpit. If you're a fan of any Ace Combat entries, you'll find something to love on these horizons.
-
Nov 21, 2011It might not be worth $40 for some gamers, but series fans will appreciate it.
-
Games Master UKJan 12, 2012A big game made small, until the things that made it great became too small to see. [Feb 2012, p.95]
-
Jan 30, 2012Sure, all the other elements might be merely mediocre, but the pluses ultimately exceed the minuses so one can't help but walk away from this game with positive feelings.
-
Dec 21, 2011Overall, if you're a fan of the Ace Combat franchise, you'll probably like the game. Otherwise, you might want to rent or borrow it first.
-
Dec 2, 2011Overall this isn't the best Ace Combat experience, but it's a passable bit of portable fun.
-
Dec 20, 2011Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy could've been so much more, but in the end it's just a generic chapter of the series which lacks challenge and ends pretty quickly.
-
Nov 30, 2011Once again a 3DS game fails to realize its huge online multiplayer potential.
-
Dec 15, 2011Assault Horizon Legacy is mediocre, but what's worse is you feel it never even aimed for the stars in the first place.
-
Dec 20, 2011The best I can say about Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is that it's adequate at best. But at a time when the 3DS is finally getting all the killer software that it was missing for the first few months of its existence, adequate hardly cuts it.
-
games(TM)Jan 29, 2012A gutless turn for a franchise that prides itself on being the exact opposite. [Issue#118, p.115]
