OBEX is an earnest, strange, and delightful adventure.

The Summer Book is a wholesome meditation on the life cycle.

Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is a film that demands to be witnessed on the largest possible screen. Preferably at a movie theater. This is that rare cinematic bonbon that will sit in your mind palace long after you’ve watched it.

To Kill A Wolf is a somber, moving, and deeply tragic film.

It’s a most humane and beautiful story.

Ultimately, My Penguin Friend is a great film to take your kids to. It is a story about an unshakeable friendship and traversing the roadblocks life puts in your way. It is a life-affirming balm for the soul.

I can only recommend this film for die-hard Eli Roth fangirls or people who want to see what a bad film looks like. If that’s you, Borderlands is for you.

If you’re looking for a good scare, or at least an Alien sequel that is willing to be a sweaty blue-collar fable, seek out Alien: Romulus. This is a very fine flick.

Generally, I found Running on Empty to be a joyful contemplation of life. It’s also a pretty solid calling card for Daniel André.

This film poignantly captures the hurt feelings of the women subjected to this man’s perversion. It is a sobering experience. Seek it out if you’re intrigued.

If you’re in the market for a great slasher film or even just a movie about how people used to make movies, seek out MaXXXine. It’s absolutely a great two hours at the theater.

Ultimately, Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life is a very good first film for Covert. It’s a high watermark to start a feature film career on. I look forward to what he and his team do next. Seek this out as soon as possible, it’s a truly fantastic experience.

This is a wonderful film. Seek it out. Also, if you come across a bottle named Molana, which is the Keushguerian brand of wine prepared from the Iranian Rasheh grape, I encourage you to try it. This is such a powerful emotional moment in our shared history.

I found the film to be a sweet experience and a marked change of pace from standard cinematic fare these days. Truly, it’s independent film where you find the titles worth championing. Seek this out if you need a film that will serve as a warm hug.

This is a hard film to watch. If you can stomach it and its terrors, this film rewards you with a cracking good fireside story

Onlookers is a novel exercise in audio and visual presentation. Natural light, loads of wild sound, and the environment of Laos are presented plainly with zero artifices or embellishments. If you’re looking for a new kind of travel film, this is for you.

Bigger, brassier, and gayer than its predecessor, Mean Girls (2024) is a saccharine overload of cinematic bombast.

A true cinematic gem.

Tropic is, at its core, a tale of brotherly love. It’s a wonderful experience, whether you speak French or need to read the subtitles. It’s masterfully crafted by a great cinematic team and reminds me of the glorious films of the French New Wave.

Seek out The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It’s deeply mesmerizing and engrossing. You will not be disappointed in this trip to the Districts.

If you’re in the mood for a biographical film, Joyce Carol Oates: A Body in Service of the Mind is a splendid example. Seek it out, wherever it may be playing or streaming.

The video footage is demented, hysterically funny, and supremely dark. In presenting Carson’s antics and dissecting his style as a presenter, A Life on the Farm provides a horror-tinged giggle fest.

This is a great hour and 49 minutes of action film.

Ultimately, this drama is an essential piece of cinematic contemplation on the value of war.

In preparing A Compassionate Spy, James seamed together a spellbinding collage concerning the life and times of Ted Hall and his family. It is a wonderful documentary, and I encourage everyone who wants a greater sense of the story of the Atomic Age to check it out.

Insidious: The Red Door has some wonderful jump scares, some very creepy sequences, and it gives new terror to the prospect of receiving an MRI. This is an excellent summer horror film, and if you like having the bejesus scared out of you, Insidious: The Red Door will provide about 2 hours of entertainment.
