This is straight down the middle for this genre. However, there are enough plot twists to keep you interested and the the pacing is on target

It may go a bit overboard on what can be considered plausible, but at least it doesn't cheat itself and stays completely focused on plot, tone and atmosphere. And by that I mean how oppressive and bleak it is in its portrayal of greed and drug trafficking. It offers nothing new in terms of addressing these issues, but I can't deny the appeal and unfortunate entertainment of such a story.
In one way or another, it offers some perspectives that might seem to glorify these characters, such as the Mexican military man who ends up becoming a cartel leader, but the series itself makes for an excellent thriller.

It demands time and patience, but trust me, it's worth it.… Expand

Exciting, fast paced, show with great style. The atmosphere of everything on this is very "fresh", reminds me of the movie Collateral. The plot is easy to follow and engaging as well as the acting. I really really like it. The editing, photography, acting, were all perfect. J'ignore si son drôle de titre est prédestiné mais cette (énième) série sur la mafia et le trafic de came ne parvient jamais à convaincre... et pourtant les moyens sont bien présents, la réalisation est toujours propre et souvent élégante, laJ'ignore si son drôle de titre est prédestiné mais cette (énième) série sur la mafia et le trafic de came ne parvient jamais à convaincre... et pourtant les moyens sont bien présents, la réalisation est toujours propre et souvent élégante, la musique et ses ambiances électros sont agréables...

Alors, rien que pour ça, ça nous fera au moins trois, même si trois fois zéro, ça fait toujours zéro à ce qu'il paraît. Et puis les bonnes intentions demeurent, même si elles s'avèrent désespérément maladroites d'épisode en épisode... et pourtant on en a que huit... d'épîsodes !

Mais par où commencer ? peut-être par cette guimauve sur nos "pauvres" intermédiaires, ceux qui transportent la coke dans les containers, histoire (?) de les humaniser sans doute ? sauf que c'est ici très chiant et que ça sonne faux, archi-faux... et qu'en plus, la guimauve est de trop mauvaise qualité... les comédiens n'en mènent pas large de toute façon et sur-jouent plus qu'à leur tour !

Mais le scénario lui-même est sujet à moult incohérences dans cette petite guerre de succession impromptue en Italie comme au Mexique avec nos transporteurs au milieu... En outre, la série manque d'énergie et d'envergure malgré un beau lot d'atrocités commises par ces "nouveaux" sicarios qui prennent les commandes et font parler surtout les flingues : tout ça reste étrangement plat...

Il manque donc quelque chose ou plutôt plusieurs choses vitales dans une série : un scénario digne de ce nom et de vrais personnages ! pas des coquilles vides ou de vagues caricatures si souvent ridicules...… Expand

Excellent first two/three episodes where has-been Gabriel Byrne and Tcheky Karyo went for a pay-check. Good on them for stealing money from Bezos! Cinematography, writing, and pacing are up there with the best series.

Then it goes downhill too fast unfortunately, with an African side story where ludicrous plot twists really demand a lot in terms of suspension of disbelief. Almost as nonsensical is the Italian constant revolving doors of alliances as if in a 19th vaudeville. I disagree with the critics on the American side being the most compelling. The acting is over-the-top and grating. The Italian side is the most beautifully photographed and the Mexican, the most realistic.… Expand
