Steps it's game up in every department. The inclusion of more serious story-telling moments help balance out the absolute absurdity this show is capable of. Once again it's sense of humor is the show's standout feature. The ridiculous nature of the majority of the show's encounters are the result of an over-the-top imagination, a wicked sense of humor, and some delicious insanity.

It's a more action packed season. The gore and other special effects have been improved which leads to some more impressive scenes. The episode "White Light" rivals some of The Walking Dead's most intense moments.

The area where this season improves most is with it's characters. The cast gets fleshed out this season. They no longer feel like just generic survivor types as a result. The more we learn about them, the more they feel like real people. I enjoyed learning more about them.

It's a funny and crazier alternative to The Walking Dead. One that now has stronger writing, action, and characters. There's more of a reason to get invested in it's bonkers world. The laughs are still here and now there's more substance to back them up.

I'm still enjoying this show a lot, but it has gotten a bit dumber this year. Many things don't make a lot of sense, like the war over Murphy (the reward is vague and intangible) or little things like the giant cheese (if you've ever played Katamari Damacy, you know what happens when things stick to a ball). I also feel a little sorry for the actress who was suddenly turned into a feral girl in a stripper costume, although that is fun; I hope they progress her storyline though.

Still very silly and entertaining, I just wish they were maybe 20% less idiotic. There is a line.

This show just gets better and better. No, it's not the Walking Dead or has ever tried to be which as far as I'm concerned, is a good thing. TWD used to be a decent show but it lost the plot years ago.
Z Nation on the other hand knows what it is and goes full throttle never getting stale.
The reason many have disliked it is because they were expecting a drama like TWD. It's not.

It's intentionally ridiculous, deliberately over the top, stupid, action packed and full of humour. Yet it can also be dramatic and emotional.
It just never sits on one thing for too long. Z-nation is always going forward constantly developing the storyline and characters and more importantly, it's always fresh and entertaining and stupid in the good way. The show knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything it's not.
