    This season is just as good as the other seasons. The info to this season is a bit more slow than the other two, but the introduction of new characters and political buildup is just as strong. Top tier writing from Taylor Sheridan as always.

    For me its Succession, Game of Thrones, The Boys, Jack Ryan and Yellowstone. Up to this point I loved this show, but this season sucks. There is now about 10 minutes of good story and the rest is filler showing cowboys roping cattle, branding cattle, herding cattle, eating, listening to music, doing work and so on. Some episodes have 20 - 30 mins of this and it 100% has nothing to doFor me its Succession, Game of Thrones, The Boys, Jack Ryan and Yellowstone. Up to this point I loved this show, but this season sucks. Some episodes have 20 - 30 mins of this and it 100% has nothing to do with the main story. Kayce is barely in the show anymore except when he is consoling his wife.     I’m just hoping these first two episodes were intentionally slow and boring. The introduction of the bad girl villain was super cringe

    The writing and directing is still horrendous for any character besides John and Beth. Those two seem to have a different, superior writer altogether.

    At least on the basis of the new season’s maiden installment, Yellowstone seems committed to staying the course rather than upending expectations, and while that fits with its generally soap opera-ish nature, it results in considerable torpor.

    The sleeper stars of this first episode of season five are obviously the actors who get to play younger versions of the show’s core characters. ... Season 5 of Yellowstone, its longest yet, has the future of the Duttons, their ranch, and the complexion of the state they call home in its steady rifle sights.

    While always bordering on too melodramatic, the series was always entertaining enough to forgive some of its perhaps too over-the-top and sensational writing conveniences and contrivances. But right now, it’s stagnating. The meal is edible, and perhaps for new audiences, it’ll still taste flavorful. But if you’ve been on the ride for five seasons and know all the way this colt bucks and lurches.
