This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic dystopian drama let down a little by some unsympathetic characters and Deus Ex Machina hokiness. Superb performances from Jessica Hynes, Rory Kinnear, Anne Reid and star-in-the-making Lydia West though. Expand

    Creative and smart !!
This is Us and Black Mirror blends into one 6 episode miniseries covering the next 15 years in the life of the Lyons family. The acting and music is wonderful while complicated drama situations happen so fast avoiding fillers and unnecessary scenes. At the end you `ll wish there were new stories for the next years.
"Signor, is this a good series" ? Signor :

The perfect example of Satire meeting Reality it hits close to home and then hits even closer. The saving grace is a cast of characters drawn so humanely, that we are immediately drawn into their world while at the same time fearful of what is happening to ours. A must see for anyone with a conscience and a desire to change the mess of a society we all find ourselves in. 4 stars, :) Expand

Trite. Lowbrow. Self-satisfied. Pontificating. Flabby. Politically Correct.
In short, the exact opposite of British wit, and its acerbic, smart, self-deprecating humour.

a brilliant look into the rising political climate and technology, anyone who rates this poorly is more than likely a fan of Trump and the rise of the non-factual politics the reality of the world we are creating

Years and Years, then, is favoured by some wit, a cornucopia of fab talent and promising characters.

[Russell T Davies] aerates the heaviest, most fraught issues (from the insidious nature of tech, to income inequality, to the rapidity with which events can become both ancient history and rapidly repeated) with wit and optimism, so that they are no longer a burden, to us or the narrative, but grist to the mental and dramatic mill.

“Years and Years” is one of the best shows of 2019 so far — worth going back and experiencing it in your own way. While remaining a deeply absorbing family story, as good or better than any season of “This Is Us,” “Years and Years” is depressing on top of depressing. ... My praise for the show is not unqualified, however, as Davies (whose previous work includes the British version of “Queer as Folk” and a successful revamp of “Doctor Who”) stumbled greatly with Monday’s series finale.
