I love everything that Matt Berry is a part of, and this show is no different. The cast is great and this has to be one of the funniest shows currently on TV.

I worried this show would be too much like the movie for me to really enjoy it,

I worried this show would be too much like the movie for me to really enjoy it, but this show does a great job seperating itself from the film and establishes itself as great in its own right.

This series doesn't work for me. The movie is much much better and way funnier. Disappointed

Easily one of the funniest movies ever made! So I forced myself to sit through the first season. And my only laugh was the Baron’s karaoke scene. Other than that, I was apparently just being preyed upon by Proksch’s character?
But hey - maybe they’d hit their stride in season 2? Nope. After they started rolling with - I guess… actor showcases? The moronic episode with the volleyball team that just went off script, yet somehow managed to be even less funny? I was done. And I don’t think all of these fake reviews help the writers or the actors? Instead of hearing how much the show sucks, and working to improve it - instead… “OMG! Most hilarious show EVAH! TEN TEN TEN!!! Give us EVEN MORE UNFUNNY please!” If you loved the movie AND you can actually stand this knockoff? You’re a much bigger fan than me. And if you’re here giving it another few 10s to discount another actual review - Can you ask Jemaine to PLEASE thank Bret for bailing on Flight of the Conchords when he did? Otherwise I’d probably hate what had eventually become of that, too.

Season 1 of the show was better. The first few episodes of the show are not engaging at all.

I really wanted to like this show but I can't get into it. I've watched all of Season 1 and the first episode of Season 2 and I don't think I'll bother with it any more. There are some laughs here and there but mostly I find it boring.

What is the point of having a glowing orb section if the glowing orb is in the monkey paw section?

Drags at times, but generally keeps me laughing regularly; full of hilarious nuggets, liberally sprinkled. Well written, great characters and very good acting.

Dark and subtle humor; dry as a week-old corpse, and I mean that in the best way. It's a niche type of humor, so not everyone will find it riveting or will see the humor in every joke. It's a niche type of humor, so not everyone will find it riveting or will see the humor in every joke. Different from the movie in many ways, mostly due to the alternate cast, but I have seen both and I personally prefer the show. The movie felt a bit like a frat house, but the addition of a female vampire and the setting on Staten Island made the show have a lot more depth for me. The second season was not quite as good, but I have watched the whole first season 5 or 6 times and there are so many gems that still get a fullhearted laugh out of me. Highly recommended if you like subtle humor and dark vibes. Expand

Perfectly cast and hilariously odd. Loved it! Even the worst episodes are enjoyable and made me laugh. I hope the can keep this unique ensemble together for many more seasons.

Worthy of a far better average that it currently has on Meta-Critic. Acted greatly by all the leads, each one has their own standout moments and each one carries the show beautifully. Acted greatly by all the leads, each one has their own standout moments and each one carries the show beautifully. Will there ever be a better Vampire sitcom than this? Doubtful can it compete with The Office and other fly on the wall style sitcoms? Definitely, it's not as savage as the office can be, but it's every bit as funny! Vampire only rating Guillermos! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A top tier comedy in seasons 1 & 2 that disappointedly takes a sour turn by season 3.

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved season 1 & 2 of What We do In The Shadows, which was free on Disney, and so we decided to buy season 3 on Amazon, and oh boy was that a mistake. Season 3 is empty and the characters turn from silly loveable vampires to absolute brain dead clowns. I get that these vampires being weird and 'dumb' was the charm of season 1 & 2 but the show took it into overload, making these vampires who were alive for hundreds of years not knowing what basic things are that they were alive for hundreds of years to see. Basically by season 3, the familiar becomes of the baby-sitter of these incompetent vampires, who is basically able to easily slay armies of vampires, which was cute in season 2 but became tired and exaggerated by season 3.

I say watch season 1 & 2 and then stop. I havent seen 4 and beyond so maybe it got better but i will not waste a cent to watch the newer seasons given how much season 3 was a let down.

Every single character is brilliant and so much fun to follow, they are even better than the cast of the original movie, an absolute masterpiece.

This show has easily won the heart and mind of this viewer with it's ingenious dialogue and writing. The writers have found the perfect recipe of wit, cleverness, absurdity and relevance to make a comedy show centered around vampires anything but cheesey. The characters (though the impeccable actors) are extremely loveable and relatable.... Well, as much a 700+ year old immortal vampires can be. The best part of this show is that they don't rest on the vampire lore for comedy, it's derived from their mundane life and experience that are entirely relatable to us mere mortals. They even found a way to make a mundane lackluster office worker a comedic genius. At season 4 the show is not only going strong, it's simply getting better. I impatiently await the next season to (hopefully) see this trend continue. Expand
