Mar 29, 2019I'm glad to say that the show is able to keep the great writing, characterization and visuals from the original movie. It's just as funny and clever as the Waititi's original. A total delight.

May 31, 2019One of the funniest new shows I've seen in ages. It's pitch-perfect, and brings a little something for everybody. Great stuff. REALLY hope it gets renewed.

Mar 31, 2019Darkest black humor, with a good dose of irony and a few buckets of blood and splatter... What more can you ask ? I loved the film and was skeptical about the show, but for once, TV writing kept up with the previous standards (and in some cases it is even better). Excellent work

Dec 2, 2021Fantastic first season that adapts the source material well( a daunting feat considering the skill of the movie. This unexplained vampire documentary is kept in place by amazing performances, weird story directions and solid writing. The only fault is just how slowly it comes into itself but otherwise it's deserves a seat amongst other stunning debut seasons such as the walking dead or fleabag.

Mar 28, 2019I finally got around to watching The Office (All the seasons on Netflix) after all the memes I seen through the years, I got to say It has the potential to be as lovely as The Office, but It needs a Michael Scott..

Nov 16, 2021Based on the movie of the same name, What we Do in the Shadows, focuses on four vampires (and their familiar) living on Staten Island in the modern day.
Not all of the jokes land, especially in the first few episodes, but the darkly comedic premise and strong performances provide plenty of laughs throughout this first season. -
Oct 29, 2021I was a massive fan of the movie and was incredibly hesitant to watch this show, season 1 is fantastic and the show continues to get better. The main vampires are all fantastic in their own rights, Colin Robinson-centric episodes are fantastic, but there's really never a terrible episode.

Sep 3, 2021This show is a very strong continuation of the movie and contains many of the same elements from the sense of humor to the outrageously over the top vampire effects.

May 30, 2022A classic and of the best comedy series made in years. In the same vain as the movie, this mockumentary comedy is filled to the brim with unforgettable one-liners and scenes, and highlights the talents of Clement and Waitit as two of finest comedic talents of their generation.

There were gags about sex, blood and death, plus worshipful nods to Twilight and Interview with a Vampire. Whether the basic joke is enough for a whole series remains to be seen.
-
Like the original, the show is in no small part about being a vampire and vampirism, the loneliness and isolation the lifestyle demands. The audience, then, takes Guillermo as a clear surrogate. We’re just glad to be part of this hidden world.

A jolly spoof of demonic gloom.
