This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Do yourself a favor and watch "The Wolfman" with Benicio Deltoro instead. That's a real Marvel movie, its even directed by the guy who directed Captain America 1. Jack Russel is a sidekick in a movie with him in the title. Instead we get another angry fempowered character nobody gives a $h**T about. Man-Thing shows up for a bit other than that its forgettable formula Disney Mcu garbage. Expand

This is probably the best Disney+ outing that Marvel has released. While giving free reign to its creators have always been hit and miss in this particular phase, sometimes you will get a home run. Shot like a classic Universal horror movie of yore, it has..gasp..blood and gore. Also great characters through and through, for its so called heroes and villains. This along with Andor sees Disney finally picking up their game and delivers great content based on these IPs. Expand

Werewolf by Night fulfills its purpose of opening up another world of the MCU and I sincerely enjoyed it.

And I'm on board with the idea that Giacchino can direct Blade.

And sure its a fun movie definitely inspired by old universal monsters just of Crouse without the whole amazing aspect. I understand this is really a horror its just a marvel Halloween related movie that has nothing to do with the current cinematic timeline what isn't that bad as after hearing the multiverse and all this stuff its kind of fresh just i think it had much more protentional and i hope marvel might make more Halloween specials possibly every year like how dr who would do Christmas specials its nice to see marvel isnt just all heavy CGI SCI-FI. Meladrama plus action plus CGI does not make an interesting story. Generic characters, cliché plot lines and uninspired dialogue are not worth watching. This is just shiny candy that gives you tooth decay and diabetes. There is no nutrition for the body and definitely nothing for the soul. All of these Marvel shows and movies are a waste of time and resources. One show at a time and one movie every five or so years would be plenty. But they keep making this boring garbage over and over. Expand

Werewolf by Night is a Halloween special and homage to the old classical horror films. It is even stylishly filmed in black and white and I considered this a strength. The timeline of the story in the MCU is hard to pinpoint but that doesn't matter. After the death of the legendary monster hunter Ulysses Bloodstone a group of monster hunters including the main character Jack Russel is summoned for the ultimate hunt for the successor. The winner gets the Bloodstone which gives superhuman abilities to the owner. However Ulysses estranged daughter Elsa also participates. The Bloodstone should be hers by birthright but she had a fallout with her father and stepmother in the past that lead to be not considered the successor. This is the set up for the story. I was impressed by the story or better said that they could use 53 minutes of screentime this well. It is far better than She Hulk, Hawkeye and other MCU shows. They won me over immediately as I was invested in the story and characters. Gael Garcia Bernal as Jack Russel and Laura Donnelly as Elsa Bloodstone were amazing. Again they did deliver more in 53 minutes than other shows to in hours. Also Harriet Samson Harris as Venussa Bloodstone (Stepmother) is a good antagonist. Of cause I have to praise Ted too. The fights are well choreographed and it is brutal. It helps that it is black and white to get away with a bit gore. The effects are amazing and I praise the decisions to go practical effects (CGI is also used and is fine). Lastly I praise the music which is sneakingly enhancing the atmosphere. Just noticed that the composer is also the director. Should keep an eye out for Michael Giacchino in the future as he seems promissing. Overall this was a nice and positive surprise. It is that refreshing and good that I want to give a 10/10 even if it misses that rating (But not that much). I go with a 9/10 and want a TV show for this or at least a follow up movie. Expand

Disney finally nailed something with horror and this show/movie (whatever it is) and nailed it. Fantastic throw back to classic horror and connective tissue to Secret Wars.

Nevertheless, this is one of the more interesting and creative Marvel projects in recent years. The black and white, film grainy visual style gives it that great 40s horror movie vibes which I love. I also adore the use of shadows and practical effects, which is a breath of fresh air in Marvel's overuse of CG. The actors also do a great job in illustrating their personalities in this short run time. The soundtrack is also wonderful but this is expected of Michael who is also directing this special as well. My only complaint is that I actually wish it was longer! This is an impressive director debut from Michael Giacchino and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him in the director's chair. More of this please!

Short but sweet with the introduction of a cool comic hero in live action form. With Marvel’s version of Swamp Thing, Ted making his debut as well.

Hands down best thing Marvel put out this year.

Cool shots and awesome soundtrack, both from Giacchino this time. Fun little project, maybe we should see more of this contained and compelling story-making.

There is also some really poor CG work that look like a cheap hand drawn cartoon with repeated frames in a loop to save time and money.

I'd say skip it, but there are people that liked this.
