Excellent show, not sure what the critics are watching. But this is artistic pulp. 11/10 action choreography, amazing set design, solid acting, great gore/sex/nudity.

Excellent show by the director from Banshee. Non-stop action, bold storytelling, fabulous actors and really stylish. You won't go wrong with this one!

I really struggled to find the right score for this review. I honestly believe this show is fantastic. When you watch Warrior you know exactly what to expect and you get what you expect. When you watch Warrior you know exactly what to expect and you get what you expect. If you can handle some shotty acting and a little bit of a simplistic story then this show isn't all that bad. Warrior tackles much of the prominent issues within western and eastern culture while also having an overtones of fabulously crafted action sequences that scream Bruce Lee. Warrior achieves what it wants to... Non-stop action and easy to follow stories that make the viewer invested in the characters.

If you love action or just like classic storytelling with good music choice I can't recommend this enough.

I doubt seriously that a show filled with F-bombs, Chinese gangsters acting like Italian mobsters, lots of nudity and current year politics is what Bruce Lee had in mind.

Very. Seriously. Doubt. It. Have you people never seen Bruce

Have you people never seen Bruce Lee/Jacki Chan/Jet Li/Donnie Yen before? Lol these fight scenes are nothing compared to Chinese cinema.

It follows the pretty lame recent trend in shows to have a period piece with 21st century American cultural values. It just doesn't work. The Chinese mafia guys act and talk like copies of cheap Italian mafia movie guys and is just ridiculous. You have the the main guy who has just sailed over from China gets given a whore and doesn't **** her because he does not **** girls who don't have a choice - please get a grasp of reality of the 18th or 21st centuries. You have a head whore who is able to cut off guys heads with one stroke. Another chick who married to some guy in China and complains about him raping her - please rape in marriage is a hard sell now but was not even a concept 200 years ago. I also didn't realise shaved **** were so popular in that time. To top it all off the dialogue is pure amateur hour stuff, it's so bad it's cringe worthy. Expand

this is my new addiction for a while, if Bruce “Fists Of Fury” Lee were alive today, he’d be so proud to see his vision come to life, I need more after watching the first season

It revolves around a Chinese martial arts prodigy (Andew Koji) who immigrates to San Francisco during the Tong Wars of the late 1800s. In addition to his fierce encounters with the warring factions, there are stories involving other members of the Chinese community, the white ruling class and the Irish immigrants who are angered by the loss of jobs to the cheaper-paid immigrants. On top of this are some of the best martial arts fights ever on screen. They're not especially clean or pretty, but scrappy and rough. This series was created by Jonathan Tropper , who also did the equally scrappy Banshee and The Adam Project. Even though the action forms the fulcrum of each episode, the characters are strongly developed and the plot continually develops in interesting and often sensationalistic directions. Season 3 recently dropped on Max. Expand

It's filled with all the cliches you could imagine and manages to have a dose of the usual SJW stuff with an endless supply of over the top racist white characters... while also having one of the side characters just happen to have expert skills with a sword because... she's Chinese?/s Still, simplistic takes on race and history aside, the show is actually better than I thought it would be. Sure it's not high art, and it has all the sex and fight scenes I expected, but it also had some surprisingly well written characters with solid back stories. And while some of the scenes miss the mark, other scenes have some pretty great dialogue. So, yeah, the politics are a little over the top and it stumbles here and there, but overall it's a good show with characters that are more interesting than you might expect from a Cinemax Kung Fu show. Besides being incredibly well written, acted and directed, it touches on the current affairs of immigration, xenophobia and prejudice in a story told more than a century ago. Andrew koji is that perfect blend of tough and kind, the kind of protagonist we forgot ever existed, but to see him act and fight is ass off in this joyride through the San Francisco Chinese exodus show us that great TV can be created without fanfare or pageantry. Based loosely on Bruce Lee's stories, Andrew Koji is just the tip of a cast of excellent, intense, riveting performers who bring this fantastic show to life. Bravo to Andrew Tropper and a stellar group of Stunt artists trained by the equally incredible Brett Chan. Not to be missed and a series that every creator should watch to learn just how great drama is created. Expand
