Remarkable for its even-handed but “let’s-ask-the-tough questions” approach, “Wanted” unfolds like an unbelievable, pulpy financial thriller filled with decadent lifestyles, global corporate in-fighting, daring escape plans, shady financial moves and intriguing characters. .... Brilliant docuseries.
-
Wanted: The Escape Of Carlos Ghosn is slightly padded, with a couple of interludes about Ghosn’s family history that don’t connect by the end of the series. But it’s mostly riveting, showing just how Ghosn managed to get the better of the Japanese justice system, for better or for worse.

Add “Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn” to the list of documentaries that probably shouldn’t have been expanded to “docuseries” status, taking too long getting to the juicy parts. That said, give credit where it’s due to the thriller-like third chapter of this four-part project, which chronicles the former Nissan executive’s flight from Japan, spinning a yarn that has “Hollywood” written all over it.

The show doesn’t entirely manage to unravel the many knots it displays. It may be a little slow for some, but rewards extra concentration, and is a smart take on a riveting tangle of power, money and greed.

This is a story still in progress, and part of the series’ thrill is the sensation of tagging along for the ride. This, too, is what great journalism does. It brings you up to speed and makes you hungry to see what happens next

A snapshot of people and systems that manipulate and exploit for gain, and the myriad others (from confidants and colleagues to conspirators and shareholders) who suffer for their sins.
