This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was a huge fan of this show. The accuracy in history mixed with the action packed fighting scenes kept me locked in throughout the whole series. The story is basically about Ragnar Lothbrok and his family (who hold all the power for the Vikings) and their adventures as Vikings. Even though these Vikings did some really bad things, you can't help but fall in love with the characters and root them on during the show.… Expand

Travis Fimmel the show. He redefined what it means to carry a franchise. Vikings have a serious issue with consistently getting rid of its best actors. And while serious, its an issue you can get over as long as you have Ragnar to compensate,Travis Fimmel the show. He redefined what it means to carry a franchise. And while serious, its an issue you can get over as long as you have Ragnar to compensate, but once he leaves the scene as well, you are left with nothing but actors who either try to copy his style and presence or laughable characters who are simply not believable in their roles. S1/S2 - 10/10, S3 - 9/10, S4(E1-15) - 8/10, S4(E16-20) - 5/10, S5 - 3/10, S6 - there is a season 6? who the **** cares?… Expand

One of the best TV Series of all time in my opinion. Everyone should have watched it at least once in their lifetime. Ragnar Lothbrok is one of the best main characters in modern media, and for a good reason. The performance of the actors isOne of the best TV Series of all time in my opinion. Great cast, cinematography, and realistic settings and outfits, but nowhere matched by the dubious writing. When you use a people (including the fascinating Vikings) to make money off its culture and history, you bear some responsibility to keep things somewhat veridic. The writer portrays the Vikings as some intrigue-loving, power-hungry, virtue-less bunch akin to American TV, and who are all revenge-driven and would slaughter everybody around, including their own, without much of any reason, or because, see, they are pagans! One wonders how they could even find the time to begin to think about the amazing technological advances, culture, campaigns and world navigation they actually achieved.
Beyond the profit, it's almost like the movie goes by the same subversive agenda to denigrate this and all Germanic peoples nowadays, which would explain why a major studio like MGM produced it - if you know how that goes. They even went to the extent to liken a 800's Viking king and its court decor to Germany of the 1930's - seeing is believing. Further, many characters become all unrealistic as they constantly switch loyalties and swing between atrocious acts to fulfill an artificial plot. The several charismatic, solid actors, and again the settings and historical ambiance, make the series watchable nonetheless, if you're prepared to swallow the shady narrative.… Expand

Неплохой сериал но не сказать что отличный. Нет ничего ни раздражающего ни сильно захватывающего. Персонажи интересны, сыграны неплохо. Главный герой сыгран с довльно необычным манеризмом. Сюжет первого сезрна довльно банален. Умныйпосле s1.

Сюжет первого сезрна довльно банален. Умный герой Рагнар, с прогрессивными взглядами, хочет плыть на запад что бы исследовать и грабить. Более консервативный, переживающий за свою власть ярл выступает антогонистом. Персонаж ярала кажется очень банальным. Не помню точно, но такое ощущение что где-то я его уже видел, вплоть до актёра.
Про историческую достоверность ничего не знаю. Знаю только что события сериала реальной истории не следуют перемешивая персонажей из разных моментов viking age. Атмосферой напоминает скорее фентези чем историческую драмму, хотя никакой магии или чего-то подобного нет. Понравилось как изображены секс и насислия, без зациливания на них. Ровно столько сколько нужно для персонажей и истории. Никакого лёгкого порно как у HBO.
Основной конфликт разрешается ещё до конца сезона и после несколько серий подготавливают следущий сезон. Сезон не чувствуется как нечто самостоятельное, больше как начала большой истории. и заканчиваестя на клифф-хангере.… Expand

The first 3-4 seasons of this show rival anything out there. The story, pacing and acting are superb. Season 5-6 have some ups but it is mostly down hill as of the second half of season 5.

Historical, beautiful nature, interesting main character, barbarians, religions, and faith, brutal action. I have watched the first two seasons and I am enjoying the series. The first few seasons are as close to a perfect 10 as you could get. The series starts losing steam on e Ragnar is gone but still a good show till the end.

Don't think I ever agreed with Crappy Tomatoes review score until now ,this show is amazing especially the cast and if you are interested in Viking Age you would surly know of King Ragnar and his sons ,this is a show for you. I highly recommend this show you won't regret it especially if you plan to play Assassins' Creed Valhalla this show serves as a great prequal. Sons of Anarchy meets actual history. This show was siiiiiiiick. And they managed to stay fairly historically accurate, which was very impressive. Loved it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Yes, I enjoyed Vikings so much. There were too much excitements in every episodes. But all the excitements were gone when Ragnar died. Everything was absolutely fantastic in season 1-3. But from season 4 after Ragnar's death, it wasn't so much enjoyable. The story of the Ragnar's sons was too much complex and there were too much unnecessary things. And Ivar's character was super specialized which doesn't make sense as a viking. I don't how the last 10 episodes would be. But still I was in favor for Bjorn. But what happened? Bjorn Ironside was killed at the end. It clearly doesn't make any sense. If Ivar becomes King again and rule over all other areas. That will be very much disappointing for me. To me Ragnar & Bjorn both characters were superb because of the acting skills of the actors. Still miss Ragnar.… Expand

Top 3 TV series of all time easily. Just epic. One of the best casts in tv history. Classy, gory, suspenseful and quite often jaw dropping. If you haven't seen it, what is wrong with you? Treat yourselves.

Season's 1-4 is one of the greatest shows ever made. Ragnar is my favourite character of all time. Travis Fimmel is so good as Ragnar. The story is really about Ragnar and his family. And along the way you see him rise and fall. You get invested in his character. The writing is so good seasons 1-4. Season 5 was terrible and pretty much a different show. You should bring back Purron to the Vikings show. What a twist that would be. After she left to wherever .... while go, she came across someone who would help her learn to fight.
