I genuinely am stumped by the reviews. Sure its crass, unapologetically so, but it also has a lot of heart. Despite Gamby and Russell's epic character flaws you still wind up rooting for them. That alone elevates this series over run of the mill sitcoms. The comedy delivery by McBride and the equally deft Goggins are at times mesmerisingly good and should have you in stitches. Season 2? WTH. How does Danny McBride keep getting work? Same freakin' character as Eastbound and Down and every other angry, dumb hick he's played for his entire career. Oh look, McBride plays another fleshy loudmouth who curses when he needs a punchline, what a refreshing change for the yelling "comedian" who has been mislead that his take on anything is worth telling the world about.Season 2? One of the top shows I have watched. The ending is excellent and I hope there will be more of it in the future even tho its unlikely to happen.

Vice Principals season two is beautifully shot by director David Gordon Green, and the performances (especially from Goggins) carefully walk the line between funny and infuriating.

That it gets a bit lost after the first few episodes is forgivable, in part because Vice Principals is a fine comedy for anyone who loves its two stars.

The two leads remain horribly entertaining as small men with huge chips on their shoulders. [15 Sep 2017, p.68]
