Takes a bit to get going but once it does it definitely pays off. There have been times while watching this show that I've had residual laughs for an hour. Any fan of Eastbound and Down is bound to enjoy this show as well. Also any fan of Walton Goggins is also in for a treat. It seems he can do no wrong.

This show is hilarious! Like many- I was introduced to McBride & Hill from F.F.W. I bought 15 copies then happily distributed them amongst friends and even strangers. They have a great skill of turning dip **** into endearing people. I'm an easy laugh and it doesn't get better than Russell yelling at his mother-in-law or Gamby mocking others speech. Funny with some heart

Some of these episodes have got me laughing so hard! I love the band music mixed into each episode. I look forward to every Sunday night to see what shenanigans McBride and Goggins get themselves into.

HIlarious, if you liked eastbound and down or just like Danny Mcbride you will love it. It's a darker sense of humor, if you are a SJW or PC police you may be offended.

Danny McBride at his hilarious best. The show is funny, endearing and surprises you by crossing 'the line' from time to time.

You end up rooting for these two and their unique alliance against Dr. Belinda Brown and you have no idea how you got there. Brilliant writing and even better acting.

Absolutely love it so far. It's more grounded and less cartoonish than Eastbound and Down but it is still signature Jody Hill comedy. Sad and funny all at the same time, getting you to laugh and then making you feel a little guilty for it, I love it!

It seems many people just don't really understand what Jody Hill does with his comedy. He is not endorsing the character's bad behavior, he's condemning it. This isn't a show that is reveling in the immature masculinity of these men, it is condemning it. The comedy treads pretty close to reality in some places but that makes the moments of true absurdity all the more funny. The relationship Gamby has with his daughter and her step father is a particularly amusing note.

Don't watch if meanness in general puts you off and/or you can't understand nuance.

Already the best comedy on TV next to Silicon Valley!

Can be a bit slow at times but it's outrageously funny. Gamby and Russel are a couple of mean, hilariously petty school administrators who have had the top job taken by a sassy little woman from Philadelphia. The two scheme and plot to oust the new principal and muscle out one another for the vacancy. Absolutely hilarious. If you don't like this show you must be gay

It's half as funny as Eastbound & Down - Gamby (McBride) has none of the endearing qualities that Kenny F'n Power had, and all the annoying ones. It is half as funny as Eastbound and Down. I get the feeling the creators have no intention of repeating themselves. I enjoyed Episode 1 and am looking forward to the rest. Danny McBride and Walton Goggins are a pleasure to watch. I've enjoyed McBride's work for many years; but this is the first time I've noticed Goggins, and he's so funny in this, I'm going to look him up and try to find more examples of his work.

Watched both episodes and I love it!!! If you like eastbound and down you should like this!!!! Reminds me a lot of eastbound and down maybe not as good, but still great and he still has Kenny powers spirit in him. Which makes it fun!!! Can't wait for more, Great show!!!

My brother and I watched this together and we said "first one to laugh is the loser." Ended up a tie 0-0.

My cousin Sandi Buckles said she liked it because i reminded her of her hometown and I said, "You always talked about how you hated it there."

And then she looked me right in the eye and said, "I think you're right."

To see Walton Goggins (The Shield, Justified etc.) in yet another radically different role is a good reason to watch this show. His acting work over the years has contributed to give TV series today some of their golden letters and it is quite not understandable why he has not received more recognition for it.

A dark satyre of small mindedness prejudice, and bigotry, all subjected to our little egos, this show will not be for everyone. It is a bit of a weird ovni that asks for you to be in the proper mood to enjoy its dark comical horrendous depiction of 2 vice principals who each want to be principal instead of the principal.

First time I watched the first episode was a fail but a second try at a different time left me laughing my ass on the couch.
The production value is really good as HBO knows how to with a good cast, cinematography and setting.

It was funny, entertaining and interesting. Vice Principals might not be the best comedy show out there but it's still very enjoyable and it's totally worth the watch.

Idk what is up the behinds of some of these reviewers but this is a great, 90's style comedy about 2 buffoons getting into trouble, possibly finding love and forming an unlikely hate/friendship based on themselves needing one another, mostly b/c no one else can stand them. Although it is a step back after Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals does not disappoint. It's a carefully crafted gem, that I personally enjoy a lot.

As a high school teacher I love this show. The vice principals get to say what actual vice principals are really thinking but can't say due to professionalism and it is an pretty accurate portrayal of teachers. I was also a big fan of East Bound and Down and yes Danny McBride is playing a different kind of character but it is good to see his breadth of acting. I can't wait for season 2.

Vice Principals has some weird twists, like Russell’s home life, that keep the show vaguely watchable at times, but it doesn’t have enough laughs and or a satirical bite to keep it propped up.

If F-bombs and infantile name-calling are your special vice, the very thought leaving you gasping with laughter, then maybe Vice Principals will seem like a gnarly, nasty treat. ... Some vices just can't be excused. [25 Jul-7 Aug 2016, p.15]

It subversively places white resentment at its center and dares us to look away, telling us that arson, violence, and outright bigotry are light comedy even as something in our minds tells us that’s not quite right. The show comes closer, in its twisted way, to suggesting why Americans embrace the politics of division than does much on-the-ground journalism.
