If this was a short skit on a website in circa. 2001, it would have been ridiculed even then.

For it to get a full on series release in 2023 is... mind-boggling. The first two episodes are beyond dreadful; absolutely NO way it recovers as the tone is set. It is unrelentingly 'woke', in every negative meaning of that word - it's the culmination of every travesty that's been released in

It is unrelentingly 'woke', in every negative meaning of that word - it's the culmination of every travesty that's been released in the last ten years, distilled into the purest form of awful. It's aggressively unfunny throughout and has a bizarre hatred of the source material that seeps through the screen as you watch it; I shuddered at one point watching it.

It exists solely to animate Mindy Kaling as Velma and nobody had the balls to say no to her at the studio.

When are these dumb showrunners going to realize nobody and I mean NOBODY wants woke content. The show is garbage like every other trash bag that changes up a character to the extent of not knowing who they are anymore.

Absolute tripe. Making meta jokes doesn't mean you are clever, it means you are talentless hacks. Another self insert for the narcissistic creator.

This TV show embodies all of the worst aspects of contemporary American entertainment.
    • Reliance on stereotypes and quirkiness for humor instead of properly setup jokes
    • Way too much emphasis placed on the sexuality if its characters • Snarky, insincere characters who lack any earnestness and are thus unlikable • Embraces nihilism to an extent that the outcome of the story becomes

Imagine taking a kids show and turning it into a disgusting college frat house drama where everyone is a bully and vomiting for laughs.

Awful awful awful. I dont know what the target audience was in this but it seemed like they tried to jam every ideology they could into this show. Its just awful. Thats Velma ruined. No more please!

I have absolutely no idea to whom, to what group this rot of a TV show is directed to. Better go and watch the original Scooby Doo. It is way better, more entertaining.

There are just so many things to dislike about this show. Its greatest sin would probably be that it’s fundamentally unfunny, and while I understand comedy is subjective, I can’t imagine the kind of person who would find it funny. With the only similarity being the names of some characters, this series is in no way loyal to the franchise. The only reason the Scooby IP is attached to this show is so it can start with an already huge fan-base. This show practically PRIDES itself on pooping on Scooby Doo.

If you go into this show with the mentality that it's a troll made by family guy wannabes, it's actually half funny to laugh off the pure incompetence of it. The jokes and the "comedic" nature of the show is just stupid and uninspired. So many meta and allegory type jokes, I really expected some literal cutaway gags.
Personally, I recomand this show because people should see how fun is to

A hateful, uninspired, unfunny, and painful watching experience. This show would never have been made if it wasn't for the Scooby-Doo IP take that away and it has no leg to stand on. The only thing remotely good about the show is the animation wasted on this stinking pile.

Biggest mystery is how someone actually highlighted this trainwreck. Saying that it was bad would be a gross understatement.
I cant say a single positive thing about this show. Or even neutral. It fails pretty much every step of the way. Purely statistically speaking, even without trying, at least some aspects should have landed. Some jokes would be funny in context.

It wasn't to capture past fans, I can tell you that much. Expand

I'm fine with an attempt to spin the series in a new direction, but the people in charge of this show clearly have no comedic talent. Sitting through the first two episodes felt like being in prison.

Complete lack of creativity, even the name of the show is misleading. Creator's agenda is filling the narrative, no good story here.

Velma is an often funny take on the classic Scooby-Doo series with plenty of risqué humor. But it’s unfortunate that most of what makes Velma funny is completely unrelated to the character who gets a starring role.

The real problem with Velma isn’t that its updates make Euphoria look like child’s play; it’s that its edginess comes at the expense of its own characters and punishes the audience for being invested.

The show actually is misogynist, and totally devoid of nuance. ... Velma’s mistakes might be forgivable if it was at least funny. But it’s not. And so, we’re left with a show that makes no one laugh and makes everyone mad, and doesn’t even have a great theme song.
