Summary:
Van Helsing is a 2004 action film starring Hugh Jackman as legendary vampire hunter Gabriel Van Helsing, a Knight of the Holy Order charged with killing Dracula (played by Richard Roxburgh). Dracula and his three vampire brides are obsessed with bringing their children to life. The film begins in 1887 Transylvania, where Dracula is working with Dr. Frankenstein (Samuel West), an experimental doctor currently trying to create a new, living creature from a dead human body. The monster comes to life and escapes the laboratory, but Dracula has all the evidence he needs that he could give life to his children. He'll just have to find a way to recreate Frankenstein's experiment with his own children. Having learned of Dracula's plan, the Knights of the Holy Order send Van Helsing to destroy Dracula and his wives. Van Helsing travels with the assistance of a friar named Carl (David Wenham), and a beautiful warrior woman named Anna (Kate Beckinsale) who is also on a quest to kill Dracula. Van Helsing is an action-packed film, created by Stephen Sommers as an homage to classic monster horror films of the 1940s.
