Mar 12, 2022This show feels like an 80's sitcom. Characters are single-note caricatures that have never existed. Entitled, annoying, clumsy, clingy. Our main characters have no defining qualities. They're bland and purely reactionary. No overall goals.
Additionally, this world is the bad kind of woke. Tearing down others for equality.

The characters seem more developed, and the story line moves forward with more confidence. The whole thing is more fully realized. And yet, the second season is also terribly frustrating, as it ends in a sloppy hurry after only seven episodes.

While it's far from perfect, Upload Season 2 sets up the building blocks for an explosive story — if it only had some more time to tell it.

The seven-episode second season retains the first's ability to simultaneously present a cynical outlook on the future and also argue that love can conquer (almost) all. It's a tricky tone to perfect, but the sharp acting and sharper scripts help immensely. "Upload" has also developed a distinctive visual language.
