    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know, I liked the first episode, but like all Tyler Sheridan joints, it was way too broad, and this time, a little goofy. Some things didn't add up like why a legit marijuana dealer with 500k would allow a mobster to take 20% instead of calling the cops. And since that's the basis for everything that follows, this entire premise is on shaky ground from the start. I'll keep tuining in to see Sly do his best impression of the Sopranos In The Sticks tho. * Update: it got too dumb for me to overlook, hurt my eye sockets rolling them so much, and stopped watching… Expand

    I'm not a great Stallone fan, but this series is a revelation. Perfect mix of action, drama, and especially tongue in cheek comedy. Terrence Winter writes this as though he's inside Stallone's head, and the series is a welcome divergence from the normal (although also great) Yellowstone universe.

    As good-natured a goombah as you'll ever meet, Stallone manages to make some flyover town his own while earning our loyalty to the show.

    Lot's of fun, Stallone at his best! Great characters and writing. Nice to have an entertaining show to watch.

    Ce bon vieux Sly tient toujours la forme !… avec bien sûr un peu d’aide de quelques charcudocs… mais le voir distribuer quelques pains (quelle générosité)… comme s’il avait toujours 40 piges, ça fait tout de même bizarre. Mais le pire à voir, c’est de le regarder parader comme à la parade, sans arrêt !

    Certes, on sait qu’il a chopé le melon depuis longtemps déjà mais selon ses rôles    Ce bon vieux Sly tient toujours la forme !… avec bien sûr un peu d’aide de quelques charcudocs… mais le voir distribuer quelques pains (quelle générosité)… comme s’il avait toujours 40 piges, ça fait tout de même bizarre. Mais le pire à voir, c’est de le regarder parader comme à la parade, sans arrêt !

    Certes, on sait qu’il a chopé le melon depuis longtemps déjà mais selon ses rôles (parfois, du moins certains), il savait se mettre justement au service du rôle… comme dans les premiers Rambo et Rocky… Mais ici, il parade, il claironne, il radote, il ringarde, il ringardise… il se ringardise lui-même ! mais sans être drôle pour autant, même au second ou troisième degré.

    Et c’est fatigant, très fatigant… et très énervant aussi. Comme le ton général de la série ou le manque de ton peut-être. Qu’est-ce donc au fait ? une comédie ? pas réellement. Une série policière ? pas vraiment. Et puis, on est où là, dans ce patelin de merde du fond du trou de balle des états réunis de l’Amérique à blaireaux ?

    Et c’est quoi cette histoire complètement invraisemblable, tous ces évènements qui laissent incrédule, ces dialogues ratés et ridicules à la fois ? cette fausse nostalgie de vieux con sur le retour ? et ce rythme en dents de scie et toujours plus mollasson à chaque fois…

    Pourtant les épisodes sont en nombre limité (9) et souvent assez courts (moins de 40 mn avec le résumé). Qu’est-ce qu’ils ont foutu, franchement ? on nage dans les clichés périmés et le grotesque à la limite de la bouffonnerie ! c’est navrant.    … Expand

    Sly didn't keep his word with "The Expendables" by not giving way to a new generation of action heroes and now provides us with another of Taylor Sheridan's mouthful of pulp nihilism.

    I’m not convinced “Tulsa King” can avoid the diminishing returns that tend to plague a TV series where the audience is asked to tag along, waiting and waiting for the endgame to unfurl. But there’s plenty like here as well, including the show’s commentary on the barriers that exist for anyone reentering society after a long stint in prison.

    It’s a role and a series that has clearly been tailor-made for Stallone, playing to his particular brand of mealy-mouthed charisma. ... It also doesn’t have anywhere near the humble, world-wearied power of Stallone’s work in the Creed films, but with his slick one-liners and gruff deadpan, he manages to carry the entire series on the back of his imposing frame.

    Whether or not it can reach the heights of Taylor Sheridan or Terence Winter's past successes remains to be seen. For now, though, Tulsa King promises to be a royally good time – for fans of comedy and mob drama alike.
