Thank GOD this series is finally ending. It was pretty cool the first 3 seasons, then went into an nosedive of stupidity. Seasons 5 and 6 were almost unwatchable.

So far not impressed. I actually just decided to give True Blood a try after hearing all the raves from my friends. All I can say is thank goodness for fast forward. I think I started skipping ahead in season 5 & 6 and even last night. I watch them on HBO Go as I don't think I could stand to sit and watch it straight through. HEP V vampires don't live but a couple of days. We saw this with Nora, so how are they even strong enough to empty towns. Ah, they can't go out in the day light and they can't go into homes uninvited. To say this is far-fetched in a series like this says something about the writing. Very poor beginning really. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The seventh and final season premiered on June 22, 2014, with the last episode was airing on August 24, 2014. In this season, Bon Temps is terrorized by a group of vampires infected with the virus created in the previous season. They kill Tara and kidnap Arlene, Holly, and Nicole. Pam travels the world in search of Eric, who is found in France infected by the virus. They meet Sookie, Bill, Jessica, and Alcide in Bon Temps and rescue the people who were kidnapped, which results in Alcide's death and Sookie being infected by the virus and transmitting it to Bill. Eric and Pam search for Sarah Newlin, who supposedly has an antidote for the virus. Several characters encounter closure like Lettie Mae making peace with Tara through visions caused by vampire blood, Jessica and Hoyt getting married after reuniting during the season, Lafayette entering a relationship with Jessica's ex-boyfriend, James, and Sam leaving Bon Temps with Nicole. At the end of the series, Bill refuses to take the antidote to heal himself from the virus and asks Sookie to give him the "ultimate kindness". Sookie then strikes Bill's heart with a wooden stick. Pam and Eric successfully sell the new Tru Blood with the antidote. The last scene of the series shows a pregnant Sookie sitting outside on a table full of people beside a mysterious man. They kiss and drink, and everyone around them appears to be happy. Expand

I was an avid True Blood fan for the first 4 seasons and still have seen every episode. However this thing has been going downhill fast. Where are the Hep-V vamps hiding? Fangtasia of course.. Yakuza home base... Fangtasia. Big exit for Tara? blows up instantly, Alcide unceremoniously shot with no setup. Sam.. packs up and leaves town. That's interesting. Story is now almost entirely person x loves person y and heartbroken by person z. You can now use that formula for almost any 3 people in TB. The length of each scene is now increased considerably. Series like Breaking Bad just got better as they went. HBO just allowed the team to just tank TB. It is now *officially True Blood 90210. This show has become so bad that I would be very very surprised if it got renewed for another season after this. The amount of melodrama, pointless nonexistent plot, and a strange combination of over and under acting from several of the cast portray a show that is running on fumes and has nowhere else to go.

HBO should have just cancelled this show 3 seasons ago and made way for better written, acted, and produced shows. Unfortunately they stuck with something that was marginally bearable, but did bring in ratings(me included), to cash in on its following. Like "Dexter" this show has been around too long and has ruined the name it made for itself with earlier seasons.

I was skeptical when the new show runner Brian Buckner said that this final season would return back to how it was when it first started but after seeing the premiere all of the skepticism was gone. Wow. Just wow. I am blown away. I can't believe how great the premiere episode was. The fact that they killed off a main character in the first 5 minutes is unbelievable to me. The character has been in every episode since season 1. (don't worry no spoilers) it really makes you feel that no one will be safe this season. I loved this series for 2 or 3 seasons, then tired of it. I tried again with the first two episodes, so far, of season 7. I can't say that I'm seeing much yet to pull me back in. So far there's been no character development, a lot of confusing large-scale violence, a couple of gratuitous sex scenes, not that I'm exactly complaining about that, Jason's vamp-guardian is pretty hot. I felt that true blood really lost it's edge in season 5 with all of the side stories and I felt that it got a lot better in season 6 as far as side stories, writing, and characters go but I was still not sure if I would like this season but I'm here to tell you that I loved it. Everything in this episode was perfect. From Tara finally biting the dust after she should have died years ago to Lafayette, James talk about death, and pain to Bill and Andy walking through the creepy deserted slaughterhouse. Kept me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint is the lack of Eric. Fingers crossed that he'll be back soon. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The thing that makes this different from any of the past few seasons is that there's a real sense of danger. Main characters are dying, or are in danger of dying. We're only one episode into this season and main characters are dead, and I'm sure that the body count is going to keep piling up all season long. It makes a show that was on the brink of becoming boring now is new and fresher than ever. Also the side stories seem more connected to the main plot unlike in season 5 with Sookie hanging out with fairies or Terry's smoke monster. Excluding Pam's search for Eric. Jason and Violet searching for the Hep-V vampires or Bill and Andy doing the same thing. James talking about his best friends death gives him more depth as a character. I think he had more lines of dialogue in that scene than what he had all of last season. This season definitely looks promising. Can't wait for more. Expand

I mean they gave us season 5 and 6 which were, Lets be honest, **** However this new season has had me fondly remembering why I fell in love with the show in the first place. Until this last episode that is. I can't lie, the fact that "Sarah Newlin" is the cure for hep-v is just **** The aspect of them having a cure for hep-v is **** Such a great season just to pull some bull**** that reminds me of season 5 and 6. Now I'm worried again as to how it will end. Thanks HBO. :-/ Expand

True blood was on a freefall of nothing, but in this final season(and the finale of season 6) werent a so deep **** at least the final they had tried to fix somethings, althought it isnt the best finale but it at least make sense.

What an underwhelming conclusion. The final season started poorly, got a little better, and then ended with a spectacular "meh". True blood had its ups and downs but to end on a down is disappointing. It's not epically bad (like Lost or Dexter, a lumberjack - really?) but I don't think the finale did the show justice.

While the ride to the end of the road may have been worth it for some, True Blood's final season doesn't deliver enough to be deemed worthy, and leaves the series behind with an unfortunate legacy.
