I was looking for a new show to watch and being a massive fan of Eliza Dushku in Buffy as Faith, I decided to buy the Tru Calling box-set.

I'm so glad I did, was such a great series, every episode had me gripped. Eliza shined in this show, and was helped by a very good supporting cast. Was a great shame that it wasn't renewed after two seasons, although I thought the end of series

This was a great series, every episode was really good, unlike most shows where one of the episodes is boring but it's crucial to watch due to the storyline, this show nailed that aspect. The characters were well written and so was the scripting. Loved Dushku's portrayal of Tru. The show was also funny, mainly due to Harrison's antics when learning of Tru's power. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tru Calling starts off as a fairly standard piece of television in which Tru Davies (Eliza Dushku) is surprised to find that dead people, in the morgue in which she works, start asking for her help. She is then sent back to the start of that day with the goal of saving that person’s life.

While these early episodes are entertaining enough it is not until about half-way through this first season, with the introduction of Jack Harper (Jason Priestley), that things start to get really interesting. We soon discover that not everyone believes Tru's ability is a good thing and that by interfering in the lives and deaths of the people asking for help she is causing more harm than good in the long run. It is this moral dilemma that lifted the show to a higher level as we begin questioning the acts of each of the main characters.

I must warn people that Tru Calling was cancelled early in its second season and so there is no conclusion to Tru and Jacks story. What you do get however is 26 very good episodes of a show that sadly finished before its time.

A great concept that took the best part of a season to find its feet really but got into Tru high gear with the season one finale and season two, where the mythology was revealed to be far beyond what Tru could know. In need of a rewind.

This show needs to make the supernatural seem less ordinary.

Fox is squandering Tru's gift of a premise. ... Dushku has to regain the vibrancy she buzzed with in Buffy and Bring It On, and the writers can help. Liven Tru up. Give her a sense of mischief. Or humor.
