A mix of 24 and Homeland, but without the strengths. If you want a real spy series skip this one and head to Slow Horses instead.

Lots of fun and a romping, mysterious spy thriller that is neatly packaged into a five-episode miniseries perfect for a snowy night in. If you liked Charlie Cox as the blind superhero fighting crime, he takes a more nuanced take with this British political spy-thriller that incorporates family drama betwixt riveting action and suspense scenes. Treason has more than enough tension and intrigue to span its 5-episode season. As long as it doesn’t get too bogged down with unnecessary side stories, the show should be very entertaining.

Though it very much feels like it is poised to be an ongoing series, Treason works very well as a compact five-episode story. While Cox’s turn as a deeply flawed MI6 agent is gripping, it’s Chaplin, Kurylenko, and Ifeachor’s constantly-swaying allegiances that’ll keep you locked in.

Not exactly bad, but unavoidably in the shadow of a superior original that’s available for streaming if you just head over to Hulu instead.
