This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Broadly liked this season but the details felt quite rushed to me. Some of the characters and arcs from last season seemingly disappeared into nowhere and I don't think the reduced episode count helped this either. I enjoyed the main character's endings (Dushane and Sully) and felt they were well written. Outside of them and maybe Stef though so many other characters got done a bit dirty with either rushed or illogical storylines. None-the-less, I appreciate the message and type of show they were trying to construct here but it just felt a bit mid this season. It's a shame such a good show has had such a timid ending unfortunately. Expand

This final series isn’t perfect (it feels a couple of episodes short, and some sociopolitical elements seem Blu-Tacked on), but these are quibbles. Overall, what a blast, what a cast, what a genre-defining ride. Top that, indeed.

The mood is taut and tense as the final six episodes of Top Boy play out, with Dushane and Sully vying for control of the East London drug trade and the Summerhouse estate existing at the center of a changing social climate.

The show sees them [Sully and Dushane ] as three-dimensional men in the throes of a Shakespearean tragedy. There can only be one Top Boy, but there is no shortage of reasons to recommend this powerful and potent conclusion.
