    What can I even say about the original Tom and Jerry that hasn't been said already? This anthology cartoon series of slapstick comedy is a gem! Obviously there are episodes which I like more than the others. But on the whole, it's just awesome at worst and immensely and totally f**king great at best. Even though it's a 40s - 60s cartoon, the animations are a hell lot better than the 90s cartoons, even many of today's incarnation of the characters. Primarily, it was (probably) meant for children. But it doesn't have that fake morality lessons which feel too on the nose and cheesy. Instead it has violent slapstick comedy, which can easily be tolerated by children and men of all ages. It is also really great to see that they kept the characterizations for Tom as well as Jerry almost the same in every episode giving us a very new situation all the time. It never felt like they were trying to repeat themselves. Some of the times, it was also about Tom being friends with Jerry to overcome a common obstacle, or just for some funny moments, but that did not deviate the characters from who they were at all. The recurring characters were also interesting in their own respect and nothing can be taken away from them. There are many classic cartoons which serve as its contemporaries, like Looney Tunes, Popeye, etc. They were good in their own respect, but they are not much talked about now. The obvious comparison can be made with Looney Tunes, for having personified animals as main characters and similar slapstick humor. What makes this cartoon better? This doesn't have conversation between the characters quite often, especially the leads. The ones who talk are Butch, Spike, Lightning, Toodles, Nibbles, Quacker, Muscles, etc and Tom and Jerry responded with actions than words. This made the humor land perfectly and nothing seemed corny. Also, the screams of the characters were human so the violence felt more hilarious. Looney Tunes was great quite often, but can be corny at times. Tom and Jerry, the original ones, will never feel corny. .

    Conclusion : The greatest cartoons ever created! Even to this date, the episodes do not feel dated and can be enjoyed by kids as well as adults. A true classic in every aspect. .

    Tom and Jerry is the funniest TV show I've ever seen. For children, it's a must-see!
