I began watching this show as my plan of watching every single superhero show on Netflix, and this was the one I started with. And it was good enough to make me carry on with it.

The starting of the show was brilliant. I finally got to see the origin stories of all the characters of the cartoon I used to watch as a kid. And today all of it started to make sense. I do have a problem with the fact that their age difference looks too drastic, and Starfire and Beast Boy look nothing like the cartoon, but I chose to ignore those details. I was more interested in seeing the action. But the action soon finishes and focuses more on the character development. Initially I was a bit pissed, especially at the part where Dick burns his suit. But later I start taking interest in how their lives start playing out in their conflicts.

Every character in this show is likeable, whether it's a staple character like Raven or a complete newcomer like Superboy. After all, this show, unlike most other gritty superhero shows made nowadays, is driven more by character development than action. And this is one place this show absolutely nails.

My problem is with the pacing, especially the one from Season 2. It goes completely off. It has a lot of filler content like Dick going to prison just to be alone or Jason Todd living in a house with Rose Wilson. Another problem I have is with the looks. Starfire has curly hair, Beast Boy is just a guy with green hair and he only transforms into a tiger and nothing else, Raven doesn't have a cloak and Rose Wilson looks chubby and has curly hair.

Overall I'd say this is a perfect serial for anyone who grew up watching the cartoons, and also for those who need to be introduced to the mythology. If you're looking for the series which are equivalents of Watchmen, Doom Patrol, The Boys, Daredevil or Punisher, this one absolutely stands on that ground.

This is what happens when you’re so desperate for content that you stretch a 2 hour story over 11 episodes.

The show is so agonizingly slow as to make it practically unwatchable. There’s some interesting elements but the result is so unfaithful to the source material that I don’t think it’s going to be appealing to true fans of the comics and other shows.

The characters are pretty stereo typical. Robin is closed off and moody StarFire is well, just a self-centered angry person prone to complaining. Beast boy is a stoner and Raven your dour goth girl. I’m puzzled by the cinematography choices. The scenes are so literally dark it’s hard to actually see what’s going on in much of the costuming and choreography is for nothing because you cant actually see it. More of DC’s dark blue film filters.

The only stand out was the doom patrol episode which had good pacing and great humor and I’m actually more excited about that show than this one. The other stand out was wonder girl who could clearly carry her own show. She was a well flashed out mature character who is probably the only person in the show he doesn’t make a constant stream of stupid decisions. I won’t even get into the idea of making everybody a sociopathic murderer with anger issues and the collateral damage and the show is higher than a war movie. If somebody actually goes to the trouble to edit the 75% of filler out of the series and make a tight compact to our movie it would probably be fairly enjoyable.

There is still the problem of these guys aren’t actually a team there random people intersecting each other’s Orbitz. What I want to watch teen Titans I want to see your team of superheroes. Not a bunch of over powered socially maladjusted individuals randomly intersecting each other‘s orbit. One final thought: who is a good guy and a bad guy is so blatantly telegraphed that there is literally no mystery to what’s going on , if you can last long enough to see what’s going on. DC won’t be getting my 799 a month.

Certainly, this does not follow the normal DC route of characters who are 99% sitting on moral high ground. Rather it goes more the Marvel route of rarely are things black and white. I am NOT a DC comics expert/fan, so it may be that what I like is what will turn all the long term fans off.

It does suffer from the general "Netflix-ization" of series where things are a bit overly serialized and take longer than necessary. Still, there is dark humor here that is new. Fair warning, I am only half-way through the first season, but it was worth going this far.

One thing that I noticed others complain about is that it does a lot of back story/flash back (part of the over serialization/Netflixization). This is the trend these days and for some it feels like a non-linear story. I felt it was no worse than what so many writers are into these days and at least each episode had SOME forward/linear movement.

Titans Season 1 was interesting, to say the least.
I normally watch my shows while eating dinner or lunch, but no way I'm ever going to watch titans while eating anything at all!

Raven and Starfire felt lacking, but they did a good enough job to make me curious for the next season.
Beast boy is my favorite, no doubt about it.

The pacing seems to be the biggest issue with Titans, if they can continue improving, then I see no reason why I wouldn't want more.

A gritty take on titans, borderline emo at some points, but I can see this become the "DC" equivalent of the MCU but as a show.
Crossover with Doom Patrol and other shows, and they got me in the bag!

Keep it up.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a really good show. The ending of 1st season left us at a cliffhanger which sucked but now they are back with season 2. 2×1 wasn't that good. It felt like they just wanted to get over with Trigon. Last few minutes were great though. 2×2 was really good. I felt like it should have been longer but it's okk. All characters were great, Rose being the standout. I'm waiting for 2×3 now. Expand

However i wouldn't exactly say i like the show very much. The tone i think is bad, too dark and depressing. Every episode there is someone crying and arguing, disagreeing, killing someone's parents(seriously they kill too many parents lol such a cliche) and or with guilt and it is too much!! I don't mind this to be in the show but this happens too often and takes over the show. I feel as though they almost prioritize the the drama over the "super hero" part of the show. I don't get excited as much bc they do 110% to make me feel depressed with every second. They are not very good as a team, there's always a fight within and they dessert each other at first sight of conflict, no team chemistry, most cant even get along, but this could improve so i wont be as harsh. They also have such a dull dark bluish color science throughout the whole show! Bring in some color, happiness, excitement to be a super hero and not just all the negative emotions bc it is tiresome! I think this show is closer to a 6 or 6.5 but i'll be lenient and round to a 7 bc at least someone's gotta be positive around here :) Expand

It's turned into a meandering, muddled, disappointing mess.

I'm very disappointed in show. It started off looking very promising, but has not delivered on that promise. The first season developed slowly, but just fast enough to keep your interest. The second season? Not so much. It is S-L-O-W as a very slow thing, and a good portion of it consists of flashbacks. This gets confusing after a while. Sometimes there are flashbacks within the flashbacks, which adds to the confusion.

This is all an artifice to make Deathstroke last an entire season as the season's big bad (a tradition started by Buffy the Vampire Slayer & slavishly imitated ever since), and so all up it's 2 full seasons before you finally, finally get to see Robin do the transformation we were hoping for in the first few episodes of season 1.

This is a crying shame, because the show has so much going for it. Great production values, great costumes, great casting, great acting. But they got too arty with it. Shame about the story. I never thought I'd say this, but I don't think I could stand a 3rd season.

At that point it became clear that the diverse characters, though numerous, were simply there to prop up the Character development of the White lead(s). Additionally, it’s the white lead, in particular Dick, and to a lesser extent Rachel, who enjoy the pleasure of being able to commit the most horrific offenses, without any real consequences, and then get significant screen time to redevelop their character to endear themselves to the audience. This ensures the casual observer does not eviscerate them in the arena of public opinion. Thus, we ultimately feel sorry for the White character, and love them even more. This is the tried and true, though very tiring, trope of Hollywood programming Today. The SIGNIFICANT support from any and all diverse characters placates the masses further, yet still checks the diversity box for the program. At one time I thought, ‘well at least there is SOME diversity in the programming’. Until you realize it’s just a bread crumb from programming starved of true diversity representation. Save for too few nearly all-diverse casts. Note this is certainly not relegated to T.V. programming, but the big screen as well. (Here’s looking at you Spider-Man.)
While initially so excited to watch after seeing the representation. In particular, standing firm in the backlash of the Starfire character’s skin color. Though ultimately, I wonder if the ridiculous and callously racist criticism of an alien character’s orange skin being TOO dark, gave way to the following NUTSHELL statement, as this did not seem to be the case in initial Season 1 episodes.
In a NUTSHELL, the White Savior complex, and now the diverse SUPPORT of that character, is alive and well Today, and has been since the dawn of American programming… When will it end, or at least give way to a DIVERSE Savior complex??!?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pertaining to season 3,Titans writing has become very confusing and it has become difficult to suspend disbelief, even for a superhero series. Incredible deviation from comic book canon. Dick Grayson has become an egotistical idiot that no one would follow. He becomes a jewil thief (well, ok sex was involved). He foolishly thinks that turning his Titan team in is the solution to being framed for POISONING THE CITY WATER SUPPLY because they can simply BAIL THEMSELVES OUT????!!!! This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this show. I was excited to watch a live-action adaptation of my favorite cartoon and comic. Not only is Starfire, my favorite character, trash, but the writing is also trash. I don't know why people like this. Personally, I think it's cause no one has ever picked up a comic in their life. Starfire is supposed to be naive, airheaded, and extremely happy. Instead, they made her one of the most uninteresting characters on television. They even ruined her back story (trash) and couldn't make her skin orange. They even killed off wonder girl, in the worst way possible, with an electric tower. She's literally identical to wonder woman, and you can tell they wanted to just kill someone. And don't get me started on trash Nightwing; why would Nightwing say "f Batman" extremely cringe. They just wanted to make him edgy and cool, but it's cringe-worthy. I don't understand why it has 4 seasons; people are feeding this show and supporting trash. In all honesty, Beast Boy doesn't even do anything he's supposed to be able to turn into any animal, but for some reason, they only make him a tiger. He also doesn't contribute to the story. They made no arc for him. He stands there with no purpose. Raven doesn't feel like Raven. She seems like a whiney boring kid. I understand Cyborg not being there, considering he was in Doom Patrol, but I do miss him with the Titans. The only good parts are the costumes, nothing else. They spent all their budget on production and forgot about writing.
How can you mess up a masterpiece (Teen Titans) when there is so much material to go based on, such as cartoons and comics? It felt like either the actors or the writers didn't try to embody the actual characters into the show, which is sad cause their adaptation sucks. They couldn't even show the other characters in the Titan group. Such as Kid Flash, Bumblebee, Speedy, Terra, Miss Martian, Damian, or Blue Beetle. Also, why did Deathstroke kill Aqualad??? I understand it's for the plot, but it's stupid cause Aqualad should not be dead, just like wonder girl. This show is a 0/10. I was hoping for a fantastic adaptation, only to get garbage. I grew up watching and reading about everyone in the Titans group and hoping for an amazing adaptation of all my favorite characters, only to get that they know nothing about themselves. Everyone was trying so hard to be edgy that it made them bland. Whoever made this show, please never touch these characters ever again. I swear all these good reviews have to be bots or something.
