Three busy debras is absurdist comedy at its best with fast paced gags and comedy.

The show is about three women living in the suburbs of LemonCurd. This is one of those surreal/anything goes type of 15-minute Adult Swim comedies. This style has been done before, but I feel that TBD does it well and the uppercrust suburbia element brings something new to the table.

The highlights of this show are the three leads: Debra (played by Sandy Honig), the self-absorbed one, Debra (Alyssa Stonoha), the serious one, and Debra (Mitra Jouhari), the lighthearted one. The three actresses, who are also the show's creators and writers, all do an excellent job and already have their characters down pat.

As is often the case with these surreal comedies, some gags don't land or are low-hanging fruit. However, I think the jokes work more than they don't. The show can be very creative with its weirdness. There is some stuff you won't see coming.

Now, this sort of comedy isn't for everyone, but I say give it a shot if you like this genre or are unfamiliar with it.

It takes on not just suburbia and the media that depicts it, but targets the socioeconomic conditions that created them—as well as our history-long subjugation and diminution of women—with a gleeful, nihilistic absurdity, wrapped around a core of weary indignation. And then it even makes fun of itself when it seems like it’s getting too close to a message. The Debras themselves might be afraid of their own humanity, but Three Busy Debras tacitly indulges in it.

The show is delightfully absurdist. The Debras wear stark white and deliver ridiculous lines (“A Debra must be ready to conceive at all times”) with mannered deliberateness. Sitcom clichés get stretched to extremes.

The series is a canny fit for Adult Swim, which has long trafficked in off-kilter programming populated by fresh faces. ... It’s just not quite dark enough just yet.
