Dec 17, 2018Season 1 had a much bigger impact. Season 2 was okay. The pre-Christmas episodes of Season 3 have been a big trip into "Who cares?" territory. Too much backstory, not enough interesting new developments, and characters that have become painfully self-absorbed. The character assassination of Randall alone has taken the show down a few levels.

Nov 21, 2019Original stories continue, new one from past and future help understand and focus. Not as depressing this year... Last year was intense but left us depressed almost with out hope.

May 10, 2019I think this is us is the greatest feel good family show I’ve seen since parenthood and American dreams I would love it if nbc renewed this show for another 3 seasons if any one reads this I petition nbc to renew this show.

It is not a coincidence that the most likable characters on This is Us are the ones that are consistently allowed to have feelings other than sadness, loss, and regret: Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson).
-
It has a strong sense of its identity, why people are tuning in, and it delivers that without pandering or patronizing. That’s a hard thing to do, and, for all the sledgehammer emotional twists the show is known for, proves it delicately.

Based on the premiere, it’s hard to say if This Is Us wants to change at all. Mistakes are made, but hearts are warmed. The Randall Show is alive and well--providing so many more reasons why Susan Kelechi Watson is the sneaky pick for ensemble MVP--while just about every other arc is very much under a “wait and see” status.
