After the 1st episode finished and there wasn't one sly satirical moment, I determined it was a for-real crime drama with a sprinkle of spoof. Kristen Bell plays a wife still haunted by the death of her daughter 3 years earlier. All she does is drink copious amounts of wine (she drinks so ravenously it gooses the absurdity) and stare out the window, which is where she witnesses a murder. Thus begin the twists that get wilder and crazier before the finale that's so absurd, it's hilarious. This is like an elevated Hallmark drama with some aspects that challenge logic and push reality (the epitaph on the daughter's tombstone keeps changing). There's no real tension and it takes a while to get interesting, but just accept some of the highly improbable developments and enjoy it for the over-the-top guilty pleasure that develops. By the way, the raves about her painting by her friends must certainly be another exaggeration for effect…they're really not special. Expand

Absolutely hilarious! An almost perfect parody. Completely sticks the landing.

It's lacking the subtle or brazen irony of a parody. It's too implausible and inconsistently written to be an effective thriller.

Gets a 3 for good production value and a pretty solid performance by Kristen Bell. Everything else is mind numbingly bad. "It's a parody" is a weak cop out for the poor quality.

Poop, pure poop. Do not waste your time on this. I had more fun with the diarrhea after eating taco bell than when watching this abomination of a series.

Do not waste your time like I did (for you). Ridiculous. It´s a pity as it had some potential. Some showrunners should avoid making artistic decisions and just run an ending with some test audience. Could prevent such a desaster.

I'll be honest, I enjoyed this series, ostly depends as what you take. I know this is suppose to be as a parody, but if you take it as thriller it's really enjoyable.

The Woman In The House Across (...) jokes around the particularities of a movie that deals with the matter more delicately, trying to invalidate those particularities as the show turns them into awful cliches and, potentially, deliberate plot holes.
The Woman In The House Across (...) starts "just fine", to the point that it doesn't even seem like a parody but a merely dramatic tv show, and gets increasingly ridiculous as the story unfolds. Sometimes it feels like the episodes were done by simply dividing the total time of a longer movie by eight, it doesn´t make sense. I can't even say the acting was bad when the goal was most likely that, to make a bad, and of bad taste, parody.

The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window stars Kristen Bell as a grieving mother playing detective to solve a mystery.

It parodies movies like the Woman in the Window, but it's also not exactly a comedy, since it also has its tense moments. It's intriguing enough that I finished it in 2 days.

I just didn't really like it as a series. It'll work better as a skit (or even a movie) people watch on the phone. There are things to like for sure: Kristen Bell's surprisingly great performance, and her character, she isn't a dumb one so it's often satisfying to watch the process of solving the mystery.

But the ending is so laughable. And by "laughable" I don't mean it in a good way. It's just plain bad, and I expect something better after 7 episodes of building up. Doesn't matter actually, no one will remember this soon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spoilers: The title alone already told me that this show was not great lol. I love Kristen, I do...but I was given the impression from advertising or word of mouth this was supposed to be drama and comedy. I would not classify this as comedy at all. perhaps I got that part wrong? It was weird. It's a storyline that's been told 5x now? I got that they had to put their own creative spin on it but that ending? Are you kidding me? Besides the initial shock the fight scene was super fake. Also, changing the headstone each time in hopes the viewers caught it? Unique choice.... I dont see how overall it would pay off. People would more likely assume the prop department messed up or something. I can't say I felt it was worth my time watching. I would not recommend this to my friends. Expand

Even though it’s not perfect, Kristen Bell’s performance pulls you in, and as long as you get that the show is occasionally a parody, it’s a fun watch.
