The Rand & Mat in a random town story arc in this episode was a particularly effective condensation of numerous such visits in the books.

Episode 3 is great it slows down a bit from the first two and lets you experience the characters and world more. Something that a lot of shows/movies overlook and I'm glad to see it here.
