ompared with the scrappier first season, this is bolder, funnier, stranger, and more moving. Staples turns grief into a running gag and bureaucracy into an action sequence, finding radical beauty in the violence of staying alive—and making a case that this is one of Netflix’s brightest comedies in the process.

It’s as funny and charming as its title star, it’s as wonderfully surreal as Atlanta, and it breaks away from the usual format of a conventional TV comedy. Season 2 is darker, scarier, and longer in the tooth than season 1, but all those things are still true.
