    The bar for quality is set pretty low. But this entry, unlike the previous “Save by the Bell” exposé, does nothing to justify its own existence.

    Writer Ron McGee treats Full House as though it was a sacred icon whose pop-culture history must be maintained at all costs--in this case, the costs being believability and narrative momentum.

    The film doesn’t function as a remotely competent representation of its namesake show. We never discover anything about Full House that can’t be found on its Wikipedia page, and the performances, with the exception of Gaston and Mader, fail to capture the essence of the memorable--albeit one-note--characters and the actors who portrayed them.

    Tedious.... It’s more skin-deep fan-fiction that imitates the sickly decency that was Full House’s stock-in-trade.

    Unauthorized captures the feel-good part. Unfortunately, it misses the “written well” part. Like, completely.

    This wasn't the complete horror that most TV reviewers want you to think it is, the biggest problem might be a funding and schedule problem. I don't think Lifetime has the pockets deep enough to produce this Unauthorized series also I think they wanted this out before Fuller House come to Netflix. This is reflected in the look of the movie and how the actors, well, acted. Nothing in this movie looks like it's supposed to take you back to the late 80s/early 90s. It's mainly the clothes that took me out of it, most of the clothing they were wearing looked no older than 2000, with the exception of a blue sweater Danny wears while talking to D.J. that looked 80s. The whole process of how they brought the show together also seemed rushed. We got how the guys were cast, we see Candice Cameron's audition and even how the Olsen twins were cast, but we don't see Jodie Sweetins. She's just put in the line up for the show. Maybe they had a scene for her and it was just cut or maybe her audition was just too boring. Time flys too as they go through the show's run. We never really see any kind of real conflicts within the show, the whole thing of Stamos wanting to oust the twins takes all of 3 minutes. We get a glimpse into the actors personal lives, but it's nothing really seedy, just average life stuff. If you're expecting to hear really horrible things you might have to look elsewhere. The cast of Full House seems as squeaky clean as their TV counterparts, there wasn't really anything over the top. I will say though, if Lifetime wants this to be a movie series they've gotta pump more money and time into each project. If they do they might have a series worth checking out all the time.… Full Review »
