I think season 2 does a fantastic job building up backstories and provides much-needed character depth and development that wasn't really as prominent in the first season. The pilot was a poor start and surprisingly dark. Season 1 had problems with consistency of tone, but showed real promise by the end.

Unfortunately, Arthur is now a nearly useless character. While he steers the Tick, any other character would be more capable of that. His super-suit never comes into play this season. Worst of all, Arthur's thunder is completely stolen by his sister, Dot.

Some forgivable issues, but overall a great shiny spoon of a series.

Anyone who thought the initial season of The Tick was good but mildly underwhelming will find quite a bit to like here. After years of people trying to tell this story and either failing entirely or succeeding when no one was looking (see the criminally overlooked 2001 series), this feels like the iteration of The Tick we’ve all been waiting for.
