Yet another sub-par season. Wish they changed focus from the more-character focused episodes they've been doing these past few seasons. TheYet another sub-par season. Wish they changed focus from the more-character focused episodes they've been doing these past few seasons. The downhill years of the Simpsons can be split into two eras. First there was the time when the show was less character-oriented and suffered from increasingly wacky situations that felt hollow. Then the staff corrected course and switched to more character-based seasons and for a while it looked promising. But that route went south as well. They've been trying to come up with so many personal conflicts for the main characters that there's nothing really left to mine. (For the hundredth time, there are episodes where it looks like Homer and Marge's marriage is on the rocks.) The show has been going for this pseudo-indie feel and it doesn't jive.

Also, THERE IS ANOTHER EPISODE ABOUT MOE BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP! Why do they keep doing this storyline?! The plot is basically the same every time. I really wish they'd try focusing on some other characters who haven't gotten much attention. I liked the Carl-focused episode a few seasons back because it felt new and we didn't really know that much about him personally. I'll still be watching the show next season. Because although the jokes don't come as quickly as they used to, their is still funny material. There are three different jabs at the entertainment industry, and it's been some of their best satire in years.

So yeah, the season is passable. If you've stopped watching, this won't bring you back and if you're still watching this probably won't drive you away.

    Pretty Bad
Season 30 is definitely one to skip with poor writing, and jokes that are as stale as a 5 year McDonalds soda.
