    Only diehard fans will tell you that The Simpsons is as good as it ever was and this twelfth season continues to highlight the shows gradualOnly diehard fans will tell you that The Simpsons is as good as it ever was and this twelfth season continues to highlight the shows gradual decline.

    Easily the shows least consistent season thus far this DVD set contains a host of mediocre episodes such as Homer Vs Dignity, Bye Bye Nerdie and Children of a Lesser Clod that simply lack the smart plots and writing that made The Simpsons what it was. There are still some very good episodes, such as HOMR and New Kids on the Blecch, to be found but even these are a far cry from what the show was capable at its peak and just about scraps its seven out of ten.
