I've been watching this series and I certainly have mixed feelings about it -- mostly because I lived through this stuff. I find myself saying to myself, "I remember that," and remembering the emotions and opinions I had about it at the time. But here's an example of the saving grace of this program. I find myself saying to myself, "I remember that," and remembering the emotions and opinions I had about it at the time. But here's an example of the saving grace of this program. When they showed the scenes of the students killed at Kent State, they DIDN'T play "Ohio" in the background (this song generally makes me angry all over again, but I won't digress into music). I fully expected that they would. Most programs that discuss the student protests and riots do. That's when it dawned on me that these folks are making a real effort to present the facts and just the facts, without opinion or judgment. For that reason, I recommend this series to everyone, young or old. If you lived it, it doesn't feel like reliving your glory days. If you're younger than that, you might learn something. Maybe we'll get a dialog going between grandparents and grandchildren. Wouldn't that be nice! Expand

It’s basically another short-burst, talking heads/clip show with too much to cover and not nearly enough time to do so.

There’s nothing wrong with a warm rhapsody on the flowering of television. But when a TV series starts that way, it feels like it’s saying, “But first, a word about us.” And then we get to all the other stuff.

This can sometimes be an exercise in rehashing as opposed to reassessment.... The Seventies, however, gets better when the story gets stronger, or at least more resonant.
