Welcome to The Royal guide here at TV.Com! The Royal is a British drama series that is a spin-off from the highly successful ITV series Heartbeat. The Royal is set in a small Yorkshire town, Elsinby, in the 1960s. Elsinby neighbours the Heartbeat town of Ashfordly. Each episode is accompanied by a musical score of classic hits from the 1960s.
Eash episode takes place in the small hospital, The Royal. Among the many staff is Dr. Omerod, Dr. Weatheral, Sister Bridgit and Mr. Rose. Throughtout the years many stars have come and gone including Dr. David Cheriton and Dr. Jeff Goodwin.
A sixth series of the hospital drama is set for broadcast sometime in 2007 and is now in filming. Among the regular cast comes a new doctor to fill the shoes of Dr. Goodwin who left the series in October 2006 in the Season 5 finale episode.
