This season starts with so much promise, but fades rather quickly in it's final few episodes and leaves you with a sense of what could of been.

Should have ended after one season. Season 2 was, like almost everything else on "tv", overstretched , bloated and over-the-top, with the proverbial "shark jumping" being the killing/revival of a central character. That said. It's still more watchable than the majority of the self-serious nonsense coming from woke 'Meuhrika.

Oh look! No written reviews after 4 episodes. Could it be no one gives an F about this ****

Oh look! Another slow motion walk with the characters in very very very funny outfits while an '80s song plays. McBride had a chance to satirize a ripe field, instead he never has the balls to go far enough to actually say anything. Now look, there are kinda funny haircuts. Oh look a

Oh look! Another slow motion walk with the characters in very very very funny outfits while an '80s song plays.

McBride had a chance to satirize a ripe field, instead he never has the balls to go far enough to actually say anything.

Now look, there are kinda funny haircuts. Oh look a gay-subtext group without the courage to actually say anything truthful or insightful about it. Not a single laugh in the first four episodes. Smug, "look-at-how outrageous we are" insider crap that's only hysterical to the writers of the show. They just can't believe how funny they are. And neither do we.

Danny McBride couldn't make a hyena laugh.

I'm really impressed with Danny McBride and Jody Hill. Everything is original, funny, and heartbreaking.

This is what the first season should've been. HILARIOUS. Uncle Baby Billy (Walton Goggins) steals the show.

“Gemstones” is brave, and I want it to explore rather than shy away from all that subtext—which is that straight white men are straight white men because the rest of us are not.

The beauty of McBride, Green and Hill’s small-screen triumph is the way in which it couches its over-the-top exclamations in fittingly lewd and preposterous scenarios. McBride’s Jesse is the corrupt soul of these proceedings, his arrogant greed and ambition almost as great as his pathetic longing for validation from both his father and his peers (at whom he sneers). He’s complemented by one of the best casts in television.

It is a comedy with every fiber of its being, and the funniest one currently on air. ... Gemstones’ extraordinary collection of comedic talent makes it a joy to watch even when its narrative flow occasionally lurches.
