The story was messed up at first, but slowly you get to understand the motivations of each parties. But they put a lot of pieces at first and it didn't help the clarity of the story. They have wasted a lot of villains in the season. They seems interesting but they were partially explored and too brief. The title of this series is pretty bad in my book. An accessory is, just that. However the acting is superb. In fact it save the series form A to Z. They make it believable. The FX are well done for TV, and they are some actions too. I give it 72%, mainly because the last 3 episodes clarifies a lot, and the great casting choices. Expand

Most striking to me is how lifeless it feels. The story is told in info dumps, and in between you watch these cardboard characters talk and act like no one does. It feels so alien and random, a bit like when parents pretend to be hip to kids.
Really a show that is less than the sum of its parts.

I endured the first episode and I don't think I have the strength for another.

There's some plot here that might be worth it if you have a lot of patience, but I couldn't be bothered... And plenty of things just don't work.

Also - the characters aren't interesting in the slightest. The main character starts off like this perfect, flawless girl-boss we've seen so many times already (oh, and she apparently kicks ass in video games but people dismiss her because she's a girl, how novel a concept!). Then there's some local gang of incompetent brutes / hoodlums with a Big Boss who's comically evil... And obviously it's a series from 2022, so the White Knight needs to be a black guy... tho I have to give props to Amazon for managing to check the "disabled" tick box in a somewhat interesting way.

2 points for the somewhat interesting visuals here or there.

I've not read William Gibson's source novel, but after seeing the first two episodes I can safely say that this looks like my sort of thing.

I'll certainly give them the first season to see if the mix of high technology, alternative time lines and rich, powerful people from the future with their own motivations for what they're doing continues to develop in an interesting direction.

Could end well, could go off the rails the way Nolan and Joy's stewardship of the TV version of Westworld did. I'm pretty sure it'll be an intriguing ride.

Amazon might finally be doing justice to a classic sci-fi novel after huge disappointments with The Expanse and LoTR. The story is told I’m a sufficiently intriguing way where everything isn’t explained in the first episode, you’ll figure things out as you go even if you haven’t read the novel. Casting and acting is good for this, very true to Gibson’s vision. Story telling is well passed and intriguing. Expand

Its still premature but maybe Amazon is starting to turn the corner on making TV with how many bad and mediocre shows they have put forth so far. Not holding my breath but at least this one is worth watching for now.

It has some good-looking moments, but also others that are very ridiculous and boring. And, god, it's really confusing. It's hard to keep up with all those characters coming out of nowhere. We need another good sci-fi show to replace Westworld!

She stars as a no-nonsense southern gal with the looks the director and DP won't let you forget, but with the action capacity to layout a room full of hostiles despite her 5.4-ft, 110-lb frame. Look, this is a good series, some of the fight-action is clearly over the top but the story, the tech, and the supporting cast of guys is good. Yes, the women are clearly the leads in this with Flynne (Chloe) as our main protag, her best friend Billy Ann who can shoot, Aelita West the one that gets them all in trouble to begin with and Cherise who's manipulating events from the future, yes the future. The other guys in this are supporting so in 2022 it's a woman's world and guys are lucky to have a token, demeaning role. But like I said, the story is good, it's got a good scifi time travel element that'll make you wonder. And the final scene of the finale is wacked enough to make you want a S02 now instead of a year or two, if it's even renewed, because that's the fkt up state of streaming tv we're in now, it's more likely your favorite shows are cancelled than renewed and you get to wait 12-24 months to see if you get another paltry 8eps. Just in case anybody who writes for it reads any of these comments, messy, untidy and lazy do not equate to interesting. Alongside this, some of the casting is hugely off and some of your actors try extremely hard to be oh so good but are in fact hopeless. For example, you use an American actor to play the British detective and there is this pathetic attempt at what Americans think is extremely clever Sherlock Holmes style but is intact just pathetic acting whilst EVERY OTHER CHARACTER just sits and worships it. It's not deep, it starts clever and falls over itself. 100% waste of my life. Expand

Starts out well enough, but the sci-fi world is PRETENTIOUS and becomes impossible to follow while the real world is fake FOLKSY enough to make you sick.

Add in the fact that average people use the F-word like a steady stream during normal conversation and the whole thing starts to become pretty unbearable as the show progresses.

The sci-fi is pretty good, but it's just too big of a headache to try and follow. Not that it's too smart for the audience, but it tries too hard to appear smart.

The characters were ok, but nothing special and the acting was passable, but again, nothing special. As the series continued pacing became a problem. By episode seven I was bored. The story was moving too slow for the mediocre characters to keep my interest. A slow story requires interesting characters or average characters need a plot that moves along to make up for them. A slow story combined with bland characters doesn’t work. This might have worked better as a movie. It seems they do not have much to work with so they are dragging it out to make a series. I, like I guess many people, have limited entertainment time and I will not waste it on a slow meandering story with flat characters. Expand
