A disappointment so far, after three episodes.

Episode 1 introduces a new recurring character who immediately comes across as distasteful. I didn't appreciate the plot, although I can understand why others might like it. In either case, it would have made sense during season 2, but not now; it seems that the writers realize that they forgot something and want to deal with it, but it's

Episode 1 introduces a new recurring character who immediately comes across as distasteful. I didn't appreciate the plot, although I can understand why others might like it. In either case, it would have made sense during season 2, but not now; it seems that the writers realize that they forgot something and want to deal with it, but it's three years too late.

Episode 2 starts well, with a story of exploration and mystery, but quickly turns into a 50s style monster movie, with mutations occurring in ten minutes (no, that's not how evolution works). Its similarity to the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Genesis can't be completely coincidental. The special effects are sometimes surprisingly poor, what one would expect from a cheap TV series.

Episode 3 also starts well, with a story that's intriguing enough to make us suspend our disbelief, but by the tine we start to get tired of the mysteries (so are the characters, they say so themselves) and want to know the answers, a deus ex machina appears and gives a completely unsatisfactory explanation. The new recurring character is again distasteful; perhaps the writers should seek inspiration in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode Balance of Terror instead.

All episodes are one hour long or more, which is welcome and gives more time for the story. The cinematography is sometimes so good that I watched some shots several times to better understand how they were done. Dogfights that make no sense in space are plentiful, and reaction shots that last too long before we see whatever the characters are seeing are too common.

The first Orville seasons were a "knock-off" Star Trek in a way that had humor in almost a Doctor Who fashion, the fact that 3/5ths of the new season deals with topics that have a tad too much gravity for a satire, I understand mental health is important today, but I wanted a feel good scifi show, not going into the moral ethics of robotic self-termination

This is what Star Trek should be. Exploring moral dilemmas. Writing great stories with no agendas.

On a lesser note, some of the acting is so below par it's cringeworthy. I think I was distracted by the great storylines.

Wow, what a powerful and meaningful first episode of the third season. I was litteraly blown away with how good this was. I'm so glad this show is back, as a palate cleanser to the absolutely awful New Star Trek series they've been trying to shove down our throats. Here's to The Orville, and many more seasons to come!

    Absolutely awful.

I thought the Orville couldnt get any worse yet here we are. This one time supposed homage to Star Trek in its 3rd season under the thumb of the Disney plague rat has become Star Wars. Complete with overly loud screaming orchestral score, Boring pewpewpew and explosions Michael Bay would be jealous of. You even see the influence in some of the new costumes

Complete with overly loud screaming orchestral score, Boring pewpewpew and explosions Michael Bay would be jealous of.

You even see the influence in some of the new costumes now. The sets still have that generic sheen to them while interfaces were glossed up to look better but just look cluttered and janky.

What is worse is the writing. Ultimately while flashy with Disneys bigger budget, its incredibly boring and predictable. You knew what the plot was within the first FIVE minutes AND you knew how it would end within the first 10. The first episode is completely devoid of anything comedic. Much like what happened to Archer when the rat made an example out of that show. The predictable ending was a horrifically "hope punk" disney-esque" ending that made no sense at all and is antithetical to how humans behave.

This is garbage from stem to stern. Being quite generous by giving it a 1 and that is out of respect that this will be the shows final season until being thrown in the Disney vault for a few years only to be rebooted without Seth.

My personal criteria for any show is how long it takes me to watch it. I first paused a whole 38 seconds in to take a moment to roll my eyes at what I was seeing. I had to up the speed of the episode playback to x1.33 and even doing that it STILL took 3 hours to meander my way through this slog of a boring and predictable dumpster fire.

The real question is who is trying to kill this more, Disney so they can reboot this later to compete with ACTUAL trek, Or Seth so he can get out of his last legal obligations to The House Of Mouse. Either or, dont expect a season 4 of this with this cast/crew.

The show is dead and nothing can revive it. If and when it comes back it will be "In Name Only" bearing no resemblance of the merely mediocre show it was before devolving into something truly heinous.

This show is still incredibly boring and bad. It is 'star trek' for the lowest common denominator at best. The acting is atrocious, the script is the most condescendingly dull, trite mush. I am physically enraged by how awful this is and could only make it through 15 minutes before turning it off.

Fantastic season - great cast/writing/production value. So glad to see the quality of the show continue to improve with each series.

The Orville: New Horizons is back for a third season with a new home, some light, effective tweaking, and more seasoning for its core cast.

Overall, "Electric Sheep" is definitely a great episode, but it would maybe be better if the show didn't continue in the same vein for the rest of the season. Serious stories like this, while important, don't exactly fit in with The Orville's brand of humor and wonder. As a rare treat, it's certainly satisfying, but here's hoping we get to see more classic sci-fi adventure stories in the next episodes.
